The band has released four albums since their formation: "Peace, Love, Death Metal" (2004), "Death by Sexy" (2006), "Heart On" (2008) and "Zipper Down" (2015). Despite their band name, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band. Hughes stated that a friend was introducing Josh Homme to the death metal genre. When he played a song by the Polish band Vader and made a claim that the song was within the death metal genre, Homme then referred to Vader as "The Eagles of Death Metal". After hearing this phrase, he wondered what a cross between the Eagles and a death metal band would sound like. In a 2003 interview Homme described the sound of the band as a combination of "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals." Jesse Hughes is known by fans for his enthusiastic interaction with audiences at live performances.
While the band were on stage at Le Bataclan in Paris, France, on November 13, 2015, the audience was attacked by terrorists wielding automatic rifles, grenades and suicide vests. The death toll inside the venue was 89, including the group's merchandise manager, but the band members made it safely out of the venue via a door backstage.

But I think you don't see
'Cause' I'm moving so fast
We call it rock n rollin'
My weapon seems usless
'Cause' your on to me
You are impossible to read
You're always straight controllin'
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Gon' doo a voodoo until
You feel my power now!
You know I feel so smooth
I'm always struttin' when in motion
Make the little girls dance
'Cause' I'm rock n rollin'
It really doesn't matter
If you're hard to please
'Cause' when you give me your smile
I'm yours for straight controllin'
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Gon' doo a voodoo until
You feel my power now!
You know I try so hard
But I think you don't see
'Cause' I'm moving so fast
We call it rock n rollin'
My weapon seems usless
'Cause' your on to me
You are impossible to read
You're always straight controllin'
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Gon' doo a voodoo until
You feel my power now!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Oh oh oh Miss Allisa!
Gon' doo a voodoo until
You feel my power now!
The lyrics of Eagles of Death Metal's "Miss Alissa" speak to the feeling of being enamored with someone who is difficult to read and control. The singer expresses frustration at trying to win their beloved's affections, only to be constantly thwarted by their inscrutability. The song is an ode to the power and mystique of rock and roll, which the singer wields as a weapon to try and gain the upper hand in the relationship.
Throughout the song, the singer refers to the power of rock and roll as a means of seduction, claiming that it makes the little girls dance and gives him an edge in his pursuit of Miss Alissa. The chorus repeats the name of the object of the singer's affections, underscoring the intensity of his obsession with her. The line "doo a voodoo until you feel my power now" emphasizes the idea that the singer is using his own personal brand of magic to try and win over Miss Alissa.
Overall, "Miss Alissa" is a fun and catchy song that captures the energy and excitement of the rock and roll lifestyle. It speaks to the universal experience of trying to win someone over and the frustration that can come from feeling like you are constantly fighting an uphill battle.
