Heaven Adores You
Earlimart Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Thought you had broke your own back
Things that you want
That you bought and stole
You knocked on the door
Tell me what it's all for
Who am I supposed to be?
Got dirt on your face
Still you got something to say
Gonna make it alright
If you find the time
And Heaven adores you
Heaven adores you
Heaven adores you now.
(x2)
The lyrics to Earlimart's "Heaven Adores You" offer a glimpse into the struggles and anxieties of everyday life. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer wanders through life with a sense of uncertainty and fear. The idea of stepping on a crack and breaking your own back is a common superstition that speaks to the fear of being responsible for your own misfortune.
The singer also touches on the idea of material possessions and their role in our lives. "Things that you want that you bought and stole" suggests that we often place too much importance on objects and possessions, valuing them above more meaningful experiences and relationships. The chorus of the song offers a sense of comfort and hope, as the singer speaks of Heaven's love and support in times of struggle.
Overall, "Heaven Adores You" is a powerful and poignant song that captures the complexities of human emotions and experiences. It speaks to our fears, insecurities, and desires, while offering a sense of hope and comfort in difficult times.

This sounds great. Elliott Smith took his life in 2003, the year prior to this coming out. His recent documentary went by the title Heaven Adores You, and this songwriter clearly has Elliott influence in his music and vocals. Clearly there is a connection in all this? Are you aware of any? This could have been written about Elliott Perhaps.
Ok I just looked it up, this album was in fact dedicated to Elliott, who, in my opinion, was the greatest, most well-rounded songwriter of all time.

Sorry, hackers. It was too much, and too late. I was aware of your every move the whole time. I know, Elon, Mark, and "Bill" are all hackers, but Mark Z. is the worst.
