Existing in a place that feels like a luxurious prison, a place where one has become so accustomed to their suffering and feels like they can only make it there permanently.

We know that we're trapped
Awareness of the situation and the limitations that it brings.

We just can't see the walls
The restriction is invisible and intangible, yet we can feel its existence.

Hope? No, it was lost long ago
The loss of hope as a result of unbearable conditions, where things went beyond redemption.

So we take what we can
Desperation has led to making-do with what is available, no matter how inadequate or unsatisfactory it may seem.

And we make it our own
Making the best out of the limited options by taking ownership of the only choices left.

Alone, the only way I know
Surviving through hardship and being self-reliant because no one else is there to assist.

They want me to fail
Society expects and wishes for one's downfall because of the ingrained idea that some are only meant to be at the bottom of the hierarchy.

But I can't so I wont
Determination to succeed and to prove them wrong, refusing to be defined by the limitations imposed upon oneself by society.

This just the way it is
The harsh reality is that circumstances can seldom be altered.

The way it's always been
The system has existed like this for a long time, and change seems unlikely.

Fighting each other for their scraps or so it seems
Being set against one another and made to compete for the few resources present.

I must break free
The laser focus towards achieving freedom from the existing oppressive system.

But know not how to breach
Uncertain how to overcome the barriers in place and unsure of where to even begin.

the walls surrounding me
The metaphorical or literal walls that are confining in one's life.

are closing in on me
The overwhelming feeling of the walls getting tighter and limiting the movement and ability to progress.

And I can't fucking breathe
The pressure of the confinement and the frustration from the seemingly hopeless situation is suffocating.

Nor can I even sleep
The unrest due to the struggle is not limited to when conscious but goes beyond to haunting even when asleep.

Must we all suffer just to live on our knees?
Living in squalor and in the grip of the powerful at the cost of one's standing and dignity isn't worth it.

I must stand tall
There's a need to rise and stand against existing issues despite everything.

Never accept defeat
Choosing to fight till the end and promoting the idea of resistance against and rising against oppression.

The walls they built will fucking crumble for me
The walls that limit and confine one's progress will break as a result of tireless hard work and determination.

Turns out the way it is
The hard truth is that things are the way they seem to be, beyond any manipulation.

You never get to leave
Once you are stuck in your condition, it becomes challenging to leave and escape it physically or metaphorically.

The shit I done and seen
The hideous form of things that happened that one experienced creates significant and long-lasting effects.

Will always follow me
The past struggles and challenges remain forever engraved in memory and with time become difficult to shed off.

And every time I sleep
The memories and experiences continue to haunt even in one's conscious moments of rest, making recovering difficult or almost impossible.

I dream I hear a thousand people screams
The collective pain and struggle of the multitude one has experienced, empathized or connected with continues to echo in memory.

It puts the fight in me
The difficulty of past experiences can be energizing and empowering, helping one build resilience and empathy.

I wont go quietly
Refusing to accept and allow things to be the way they are, choosing to fight loudly and voicing around the need for change and progress.

The people rise with me
The need to come together with others who share the same passion and vision against oppressive societal structures.

We suffered silently
Enduring hardship without much vocal expression nor resistance.

But no longer shall we live and die on our knees
Rejecting the expectations and norms of society, standing up, and fighting instead of being passive towards being pushed down.

And they ask me how I feel
The society that has guided us wrong and trapped us wants to feign love and concern for our well-being.

I still don't feel a fucking thing
Refusal and disbelief to the love offered anymore after so much hurt and damage have taken place.
