Jamie here. A story for every one else...one of the great joys and things I could actually look forward to during the pandemic was a few times a week, hopping on a Zoom call with Alexandra, as we went through all the different takes of Gennady's vocals. Everything Gennady does is improvised and felt in the moment. So then Alex and I went looking to capture that magic among his performances ("oooo" takes, as we called them). And I remember the moment Alex and I came across the climactic gesture at 10:03 and the immediacy of our 'holy shit' reaction). This song exists in the form that it does in large part due to those Zoom hangs, and hence why Alexandra Bitker is credited for vocal comping, and will have rightly earned her Discogs entry and profile when the moment comes. ✊

I know that the word "masterpiece" is terribly overused, but there is no other more appropriate description: This (and the rest of the forthcoming album) is an absolute masterpiece.

@@larryshanbrom3724 honestly, this song alone has catapulted them to the stratosphere for me. I knew they were good but from what I'm hearing so far for me, this album could be placing Earthside among some of the greats of our time and could be closing on the musicianship of Steven Wilson. Working with other artists and using them in a way that's not just complimentary but transformative to the music is just a class that very few musicians can aspire to.

Proud should definitely be an understatement. I am anticipating some incredible music on the horizon and can't wait to be swept along for the ride.

Today ( 7.10.'23 ) a very, very nice article on the front page of one of the biggest newspapers in the Netherlands about Frank Sacramone sr. the father of Earthside keyboardplayer Frank jr. who followed his son 4000 miles to the metal festival Prog Power in a very little village called Baarloo in the Netherlands. The article is not only nice but also refers to the band's music on You Tube, among other things.

I have a stupidly large CD collection (probably 5000, yes all legit). After 3 months of listening to this CD almost every day, I’m pretty sure it’s going to wind up as a Desert Island Disc for me…like, Top 20. Maybe even Top 10.

It’s one of the most powerful, beautiful, heart wrenching, and amazing works of music that I’ve ever heard.

This song (the title track) is probably my favorite (Tyranny and Lesser Evil being others), but the whole disc is just stunningly good.

My hats off to everyone involved. The choices in guest vocalists were perfect across the board, the musicianship phenomenal, and the restraint to NOT constantly go off on crazy solos (like most ProgMetal) is commendable.

And don’t get me wrong….I generally love awesome solos, but I truly think adding more would have diminished this album, not added to it.

That’s a thunderous testament to the incredible songwriting.  

Having said that, the bass part/solo in this, the title track is awesome!! 🙂
