Fear Of Flying
Echobelly Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Break the round that brings you down
Death behind the wheel
That ground you down to how you feel
The time that flew away
The time that flew away
You know what you are doing now
You and I can build it up
You alone can make it real
Oh don't you slow down
No don't you slow down
Is there a price to pay?
Overload or out of bounds
Death behind the wheel
Or pawn it all for something real
The one that flew away
You know what you are doing now
Can you take this out of here?
You and I can build it up
You alone can make it real
Oh don't you slow down
Hell don't you slow down
No don't you slow down
The lyrics to Echobelly's song Fear of Flying explore the idea of taking control of one's life and rising above the challenges and obstacles that threaten to weigh one down. The opening lines of the song, "anyhow, anyway, break the round that brings you down," suggest a sense of defiance and determination to break free from routines or a sense of hopelessness that might be holding one back. The reference to "death behind the wheel" could represent the fear of losing control, whether it be in a literal sense while driving or a more figurative sense in life.
The overarching message of the song, however, is one of empowerment and self-assurance. The lyrics suggest that the listener knows what they are doing now and that they have the power to "build it up" and "make it real." The repetition of "don't you slow down" emphasizes the importance of moving forward and not allowing oneself to get stuck in a rut.
The line "or pawn it all for something real" could be interpreted to mean that sometimes taking risks is necessary in order to achieve true fulfillment and success. The idea of something flying away, whether it be time or an opportunity, also underscores the importance of taking action and seizing the moment.
Overall, the lyrics of Fear of Flying encourage listeners to take control of their lives, pursue their passions, and not let fear hold them back.
