Diamonds
Echosmith Lyrics

La la la la
La la la la
La la la la, la la

She just wants to come alive, alive
Sick of waiting her whole life, for time to be on her side
Fakin' smiles just to look alright, "Hi, hi"
Another day of lonely eyes

'Cause she's a diamond in a sea of pearls
When are we gonna learn that we can change the world?
'Cause she's a diamond in a sea of pearls
When are we gonna learn that we can change the world?

La la la la
La la la la
La la la la, la la la
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la, la la la

Taste his coffee with room for doubt
No surprise no one's figured it out, she wants to hide it somehow
Fakin' whispers just to scream it out, "Hi, hi"
Another day, she's lonely now

'Cause she's a diamond in a sea of pearls
When are we gonna learn that we can change the world?
'Cause she's a diamond in a sea of pearls
When are we gonna learn that we can change the world?

La la la la
La la la la
La la la la, la la la

She's on the same side
Chasing shadows one by one
Doesn't matter where she's from
Someone's daughter, someone's love

'Cause she's a diamond in a sea of pearls
When are we gonna learn that we can change the world? (That we can change the world)
'Cause she's a diamond in a sea of pearls
When are we gonna learn that we can change the world? (Change the world)

La la la la
La la la la
La la la la, la la la (ooh)
La la la la
La la la la (diamonds, diamonds)

La la la la, la la la
(In a sea of pearls)

Overall Meaning

The song "Diamonds" by Echosmith is an uplifting anthem about the unique and valuable qualities of an individual, and how we can all make a positive difference in the world. The song opens with the lines "She just wants to come alive, alive" which convey a sense of hope and desire for change. The singer then describes how the subject of the song has been waiting for something to happen or for time to be on her side, indicating a sense of frustration and discontentment. The next few lines describe how she is faking a smile to appear okay on the surface, but the underlying emotion is one of loneliness and isolation. The chorus reinforces the idea that she is a diamond in a sea of pearls, meaning that she is unique and valuable in a world of sameness. The singer then questions when people will learn that individuals like her can change the world.

The second verse continues with the idea of concealing one's true feelings and thoughts. The subject of the song is described as tasting coffee with doubt and wanting to hide things. The verse ends with the line "another day, she's lonely now" which emphasizes the theme of isolation and longing for connection. The chorus repeats the idea that she is a diamond, and reminds the listener that we can all make a difference in the world if we learn to value and appreciate unique individuals like her.

Overall, "Diamonds" is a catchy and inspiring song that encourages listeners to recognize their own worth and the worth of others, and to work towards positive change in the world.

It is what i would call a good time starting with Breakfast to lunch to dessert to cocktails to a few further beverages then wake up in the morning to coffee, lots of coffee then pizza, french fries then toast with bacon and eggs. Oh yeah, what a night. ☺️

Have heard this song at my big box work place for a while now and the outro solo always catches my attention. Began paying attention to it but could not make out the lyrics. Spent three days searching for this song and finally made out some lyrics over the speaker and here I am. Man do I love this song. Love the positive vibe and especially the Lindsey Buckingham style lead work. Bravo! We can change the world.

I think the meaning behind this song is that there's this girl who always fakes her happiness but no one notices it because she hides it too well from being used to it and that she just wishes to actually be happy but she cant for many reasons like being lonely, and then in the chorus they say that she's a diamond because of how she's special and underestimated and no one gives her the time in the world, and how when can change the world by trying to help those people who feel lost in life. Idk might just be me

Definetly just you. I think this song is about a person who knows themselves so well, and because of this they’re lonely and misunderstood. They’re constantly thinking “when are we gonna learn that we can change the world?” Everyone else is just following some people don’t know themselves

Whatever it's about is definitely something all can relate to
