'Striking new talent Ed Prosek brings a modern authenticity, passion and originality to the British Singer-Songwriter scene and is quickly establishing himself as an up and coming artist with serious prospects for the future.
In 2010, California native Ed Prosek brought his original flavor of orchestral folk music to Brighton. The son of an Opera composer, his musical talents emerged from a formal classical background, including years of study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a stint with the notable Magik*Magik Orchestra. His current project is the culmination of his classical prowess and savvy pop sensibilities; producing a sound that transcends labels or the boundaries of genre. Accompanied by a seven-piece band and a string quartet, his most recent work, his re-imagination of Paul Simon’s classic: ‘Homeward Bound’ has been featured as the soundtrack to the newest Cathedral City ad campaign. His debut release, ‘California’, having sold several thousand copies since its release in June 2012, has established Ed as an artist to watch out for in the coming year. With his upcoming tour and follow up EP to be released Spring, 2013, the excitement and anticipation is building along with his dedicated and ever expanding fanbase.'

And I left California, far behind
Cause in a dream I grew old in your eyes
And I've been tryna find you all this time
I am a foreigner longing for a home thats mine
But I don't speak the language, and I can't read the signs,
No I can't read the signs
Take this cold heart till it beats again
And I will love you like a howling wind
Start this fire, watch the embers fall
We're just shadows dancing on the wall
Dancing on the wall, dancing on the wall
We were born with the same crooked smile
And nothing held us down, we just passed the time
Till we could throw ourselves open to the tide
And you put on your makeup and I combed my hair
I was so sure that some day soon I'll make you mine
But I keep getting older so much older
I keep getting older and I can't read the signs
Take this cold heart till it beats again
And I will love you like a howling wind
Start this fire, watch the embers fall
We're just shadows dancing on the wall
Dancing on the wall, dancing on the wall
Take this cold heart till it beats again
And I will love you like a howling wind
Start this fire, watch the embers fall
We're just shadows dancing on the wall
Dancing on the wall, dancing on the wall
The song "Shadows" by Ed Prosek tells the story of a person who is searching for a sense of home and belonging in someone else's arms. The first verse talks about being born under the same sky as the person they are longing for, and leaving California behind to find them. The dream of growing old in their eyes has kept them searching for this person for a long time, despite not knowing the language or being able to read the signs. The singer feels like a foreigner without a home, but their heart longs to be with this person they have been searching for.
The chorus speaks to the singer's desire to be with this person and love them fully, like a howling wind. The fire represents passion and intensity, and the shadows dancing on the wall symbolize the fleeting nature of their time together. The second verse reveals that there is a history between the singer and the person they are searching for, with a shared crooked smile and a sense of freedom that kept them from staying in one place for too long. The singer's hope of making this person theirs becomes more difficult as they realize they are getting older, unable to read the signs or know if they will ever be able to fully connect with their love.
Overall, "Shadows" is a beautiful, poignant song about the human desire for love, connection, and belonging. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a person searching for home in another person, and the struggles and obstacles they face along the way.
