Eventual Body
Ed Tullett Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In your brutal colour,
Or the stale black and white,
You were the closest of brothers;
Apart caused a fight.

Sound the echo too gently,
Let your ache be unknown,
With a half heart you′re empty;
I was emptied alone.

It had glistened in morning,
At one with the peace.
I had cursed all my yawning,
And with pace I had breathed.

In the green of the grasses,
And the sign pointing east,
I had pictured the masses
Made of love on your cheeks.
It arched through the bedroom,
And it danced through the trees,
Until the sun landed on you
And your shoulder blades freed.
A trust placed in forest,
The ground none could heave,
Eventual body
In a bed made of leaves,
And I found you in autumn,
It was skull and some bones;
Your flesh left in boredom,
You spoke softer tones to me,

And we fled in the rain,
I was shaken and weak,
And if not for your stubborn veins

We'd have been loved once,
For each.

Overall Meaning

The song "Eventual Body" by Ed Tullett is a melancholic ballad about the relationship between two brothers, who were once very close but grew apart and had a falling out of sorts. The lyrics use powerful imagery to describe the feelings of emptiness and isolation that come when we lose the people we love the most. The first stanza touches on the idea that even though we may be different from our siblings, we still share an unbreakable bond that can be tested by time and distance. The line, "Apart caused a fight" suggests that the relationship between the two brothers was strained by their physical separation.

The second stanza describes a feeling of loss and loneliness that comes when we lose someone we care about deeply. The line, "with a half heart, you're empty; I was emptied alone" conveys the idea that the loss of the brother left a void in the singer's life that cannot be filled. The imagery in the third stanza is particularly striking as it describes a moment of beauty and serenity that quickly fades away. The line, "it had glistened in the morning, at one with the peace" suggests that happiness is fleeting and can be taken away at any moment.

The fourth and fifth stanzas evoke the image of nature and the outdoors, and how they can bring us closer to our loved ones. The phrase "a trust placed in the forest" suggests a deep connection to nature, as if it were a kind of sanctuary from the outside world. Finally, the last stanza describes the moment of the brother's death and the singer's overwhelming sense of grief. The line, "we fled in the rain, I was shaken and weak" evokes the idea that even though the singer has lost his brother, he is still trying to hold onto the memory of what they once had.

This is beautiful.Thank you both so much. I needed this. Such special words. My wish for us all, including myself, is that we can be brave and trust ourselves. I am currently doing work I am not totally passionate about. Truly grateful for all that it has taught me and offered however at night in my dreams I dream frustrating and scary things demonstrating my souls wish to open up to my souls desire. Listening to this now and learning that another person, a woman, has been down this road before is comforting. Not knowing what to do but taking steps in the direction of love for herself gives me hope that I too can find my way to my purpose and passion. Forever grateful. Thank you.

Amazing to see you two women together, mutually supportive in your unique wisdom and love. Luisa, it is so good to see you being interviewed yourself. Your very being emanates a childlike innocence, honesty, and sponntanaity that speaks to me of sn old soul. In tbis interview I learned fascinating, powerful specifics about your soul's journey.

Interesting to me to hear you speak of feeling emotions but not pain in these experiences, and of bleed over from one lifetime to snother. All of it fascinating, encourages me to remember that we never know what miraculous surprises can occur if one is to them.

Thank you both, wise healers, so very, very much!

Have greatly enjoyed these two women and their podcasts often. I’m trying to get a grasp on circular, multi dimensional time and one of the things I had to release was the concept of ‘Past Lives’ ( of which I have recalled many) Instead I now see them as ‘Other Lives’ or ‘Parallel Lives’ . I have actually started to be able to call on the strengths of those other lives, asking for different strengths that I have not fully developed in this reality. It has been successful. It is starting to change this life as well. Very I’m finding it very empowering. Thank you to both of these incredible women.
