Faux
Ed Tullett Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Clone, caught hold of your flood lung, harbour your ‘someone’,prevent me.

Shown, you swoon in your lace run, brooding, a quilt tongue, pining me.

Calm,clot, cold, and bleed

Bone, pull over your midriff, labour your inches, widow me.
Hone ,all crimson and hinges, tarot and itches, corner me.

Fauxshot, sold and bleed cower all your cinders, fake us bower in your shivers, shake us.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ed Tullett's song "Faux" are quite abstract and open to multiple interpretations. It seems to be a reflection on the challenges and paradoxes of human relationships and the power of emotions.

The first verse talks about the idea of being a "clone", a copy of someone else, and how we can feel overwhelmed by the emotions and feelings of others ("caught hold of your flood lung, harbour your 'someone', prevent me"). The second verse explores the idea of being "shown" something, perhaps a glimpse into someone's real self, and feeling enchanted or infatuated ("you swoon in your lace run, brooding, a quilt tongue, pining me").

The chorus is more abstract, using phrases like "calm, clot, cold, and bleed" and "fauxshot, sold and bleed cower all your cinders, fake us bower in your shivers, shake us". These lines could be interpreted as a commentary on the superficiality and artificiality of modern society, where people often wear masks and hide their true selves, but this only leads to more isolation and disconnect. The chorus may also be a plea for authenticity and vulnerability in relationships, where we can be true to ourselves and connect with others on a deeper level.

Line by Line Meaning

Clone, caught hold of your flood lung, harbour your ‘someone’,prevent me.
I'm trying to be just like you, to capture your essence and hold it within myself as if I were you. But you seem to have someone special in your life, someone who is keeping me away from you.

Shown, you swoon in your lace run, brooding, a quilt tongue, pining me.
I've seen you at your most vulnerable moments, when you let your guard down and reveal your true self. You're worried and unsure about something, but you won't share it with me. All I can do is long for you from a distance.

Calm,clot, cold, and bleed
Despite my best efforts, I can't seem to get close to you. Emotions are running high, but I'm trying to stay calm and collected in the face of rejection.

Bone, pull over your midriff, labour your inches, widow me.
I'm trying to physically possess you, to draw you near and make you mine. But you're resisting, holding back, and in doing so you're leaving me feeling lost and alone.

Hone ,all crimson and hinges, tarot and itches, corner me.
Every detail about you is important to me, from the way you move to the things you say. But every time I think I've got you figured out, you throw another curveball my way and leave me feeling trapped and unsure.

Fauxshot, sold and bleed cower all your cinders, fake us bower in your shivers, shake us.
Despite everything, I'm still holding onto the idea of us being together, even if it means pretending to be something we're not. But every time we get close, everything falls apart and we're left feeling alone and empty, our hopes and dreams crushed.

Meh. Came here out of curiosity, for the music (which I already fell in live with) and left … for the music WITHOUT the video.

I can and will LISTEN to the music.

Video does NOTHING for my ears.

Music is music.

Music is for ears.

Can you imagine hearing a Japanese song bird (I hear them frequently) … looking … and then seeing that the actual source of the beautiful music is a vulture … or something else?

Seems every time I see a video to some song I like, I am either disappointed and/or it’s “WTF?”

This one is actually pretty good compared to “Alps.” Alps, for me? Again, great song, but, just about the time I was bored enough to Click away, it was major WTF?

just when you think you've run out of time, out of life. There is another person, they appear in your life suddenly almost out of nowhere, and save you from the dark.

I believe the music video is about loneliness. She walked a lonely path, dealing with all the problems alone, suffering alone, until she found would love within herself, until she found a way to get through it all. But gradually it became too much for her and when she couldn't take the loneliness anymore, when she thought she was all on her own, when she was on the brink of giving up someone came to her aid and rid her of her problems, sadness and suffering. Thus causing her to look so confused and emotional when that person came because no one has ever done that for her. That's how I perceive the video.

Songs like this make me feel that, despite all the suffering, pain, and injustices in the world, there are sacred spaces that no one can touch. We need these little hideouts. Much like my mentor, Bertrand, three passions govern my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and the unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. These passions, like great winds, blow me hither and thither, also, in a wayward course, over a great ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair. Without music, we would be trapped in someone else's reality. Thank you for the healing. Much love to everyone...<3

Franz L.C.Kappus and to you to i hope all of mankind can embrace these feelings of love we are all brothers and sisters and we need to see how precious each breath is i try every day to be nice and show compassion but hate is strong and hate spreads easily morse so than love i think as a race and society we have had our priorities wrong from the get we set ourselvers on selfish standards and our beliefs can be treacherous to our nature and change the way we treat people after all the worlds plight and wars and fights i think we know how we should live how we should be one i hope its not to late but when i hear music like this it gives me hope..hope because i know people stumble into music like this so hard at heart and then them realize true feelings the whole world needs to be awakened to this joy we have eachother and if we all stuck together what would stop humanity? nothing we have the power the question is do we have the time
