Seems like you don't want the love
Of this man at all
And it's sure been a lonely time
Right up to the time I met you
So if you take a love like mine
Be tender with my love;
You know how easy it is to hurt me
'Cause it's all that I've got
And my love won't desert me
So you say to yourself, boy,
You're out of your brain;
Do you think I'm gonna stand here
All night in the rain?
And it's the start of a love affair
The moment when I first met you
And if you want I'll take you there;
Be tender with my love;
You know how easy it is to break me
Fanny, be tender with my love,
'Cause it's all that I've got
And my love won't forsake me
With my love,
Our love will seal it together
Oh, with our love,
You made a promise
You'll always love me forever
Be tender with my love;
You know how easy it is to break me
Fanny, be tender with my love,
'Cause it's all that I've got
And my love won't forsake me
The song “Fanny” by Eddie Fisher is a love ballad that expresses the emotional journey of falling in love. The lyrics suggest that the singer has experienced the highs and lows of love before, which has left him feeling lonely and vulnerable. However, when he meets Fanny, he finds hope in a new love that could finally be the right one. He implores Fanny to be “tender” with his love, acknowledging that he can be easily hurt. The singer realizes that his love for Fanny is all he has, and he asks her to handle it carefully.
The beginning of the song describes the singer’s vulnerability and insecurity when it comes to love. He has experienced rejection and is afraid of being hurt again. However, when he meets Fanny, he sees the potential for something special. The singer sees this as the start of a love affair, urging Fanny to take a chance on him. The song’s chorus emphasizes the fragility of love and again asks Fanny to be gentle with his emotions. The last verse speaks to the deeper connection that the singer feels with Fanny. He believes that their love has the power to overcome any obstacle and will last forever.

I liked this song when I was a teenager. Now I am 83, and I still like it. Fisher had a voice.
