O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the King of Angels:
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
God of God, light of light,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin's womb;
True God, begotten, not created:
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above!
Glory to God, glory in the highest:
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing!
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
The lyrics of Eddie Fisher's song O Come All Ye Faithful are an invitation to all believers to come to Bethlehem and witness the birth of the King of Angels, Jesus Christ. The first verse emphasizes the joyful and triumphant nature of the faithful, calling them to adore the newborn Christ. The second verse focuses on the divine nature of Jesus, describing him as the "True God, begotten, not created." The third verse calls forth choirs of angels and citizens of heaven to sing in exultation and give glory to God. The repetition of the invitation to adore Christ reinforces the message of the song; that believers should come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus and remember the reason for the season. The final verse greets Jesus on his birth and pays homage to his divine nature as the "Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing!"
