Unless you make living worth the while
Unless you will be so tender to me
Then life will be just empty time
Unless my absence can make you sad
Unless my presence can make you glad
Then there'll never be contentment for me
Unless your heart is mine
Give me your sunny smile
Make living worth the while
Unless you will be so tender to me
Then life will be just empty time
Unless my absence can make you sad
Unless my presence can make you glad
Then there'll never be contentment for me
Unless your heart is mine, all mine
The lyrics of "Unless" by Eddie Fisher expresses the idea of how love and affection are an indispensable part of a relationship. The song talks about the importance of love, care, and tenderness in a relationship, and how, without these, life can become meaningless and worthless. The first verse focuses on the importance of a partner's smile, and how it can make one's living worth the while. It highlights how a smile can create a positive impact and contribute to the enrichment of life. The second verse talks about the necessity of a partner's presence in one's life, and how their absence can make one sad. It further emphasizes the importance of a partner's affection, and how it can contribute to one's happiness and contentment.
The song talks about the significance of the bond between two individuals and how it affects their lives. It suggests that every element of love and affection must be present in a relationship to make it fulfilling completely. The chorus of the song repeats the same idea, and the backup singers hum in a way that adds depth and beauty to the lyrics.
Overall, the song is a beautiful rendition of the importance of love and affection in a relationship, and how it is an essential part of one's existence.
