Although Holland was an early Motown artist who recorded minor hits such as "Jamie", he started working behind the scenes due to stage fright. He is best known as a member of Holland-Dozier-Holland, the songwriting and production team that was responsible for much of the Motown sound and numerous hit records by artists such as Martha & the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Holland served as the team's lyricist, and also worked with producer Norman Whitfield on lyrics for the songs he produced for The Marvelettes and The Temptations.

Love this tune! HDH at their most soulful! Thanks

Eddie Holland had an excellent voice and of course had he demanded time on the tv it would have been a much bigger hit. During this time oeriod of 63 through about 67. Anything Motown was during was a above average disc. The writers The artist. The producers , The Funk Brothers, The guy who went for sandwiches. Everybody was enccinct and that made MOtown the most terryfying organization on the planet. They all fear you black man especiallly that so called woman of yours and that white man. If we come together we will rock this world foundation be cause The Creator gave us the key.

I would agree with polkadotbox2 that this is a magic mix of the Nicholas Brothers & Motown Soul, both of which should be celebrated in anyway possible. Well done as ever Docludi, regards

Tap style is the closest form to Northern Soul dancing. I believe it works very well as a video/sound marriage. If these are not to your taste the original format is in abundance on the tube. I have uploaded several Nicholas Brothers in original genre. Type docludi2 into the search box. As a by the by, I believe the 'tap' sound was usually overdubbed at the editing stage on these old films. Doc.

The Nicholas Brothers TV performance in 1964 (Fayard would have been 50 and Harold 43 years old at the time) cut to Eddie Holland's great 1964 song "Just ain't enough love". For those unfamiliar, Eddie Holland was the lyricist brother of Brian, along with fellow composer Lamont Dozier in the formidable Motown songsmith trio Holland Dozier Holland.
