I first heard this on the Motown complete singles collection and fell in love with it. The label variation you have is quite rare.. I don't think more than 1,000 were pressed this way. I really like The Rayber Voices, and have lots of the early Motown stuff they did back up on. Gordy issued some killer doo wops in the early days.

I really like their sound.. I've enjoyed just about everything I've heard that they back up.. Even if I don't like the record, I always like their back up work. Not sure what Berry was thinking at the time. He obviously got into modes, and I guess the Raybers just weren't a part of the newer modes that came along. I've heard of a Rayber Voices 45 on some obscure label. I also heard about a 5 Notes issue on the Rayber label (a one shot Gordy thing)... I haven't verified if these exist. Any clue?

I remember this, heard it once never heard this again until now...so many. Great sounds this happened to. #1. Sing it Eddie....so True.

Steve

Have you enjoyed the Rayber Voices on all the early Marv Johnson stuff? Marv had such a great string of hits. I always wondered why Berry didn't spread that sound across Tamla. Milk it, as you will.

Steve the music man

OMG...that label. PRICELESS. Even the address on it.

GREAT VERSION!!

William. Shook

I like both versions...I heard Marv Johnsons first, I lived in The Bay Area, this was big in So CA

SO TRUE...TELL ME WHY...TOP 10 any where in the country....GREAT TUNE

Steve

Thank you! Marv Johnsons version was too polished with the strings and singers IMO.

Wow.. Thank you so much for that... Insane is my new favorite song. Interesting that the label # is G2.. I wonder if it was issued just after Bad Girl on Motown. Now I'd like to hear this Five Notes thing I heard about on Rayber
