After becoming a police officer, like his father, during the late 1960s, Money began to be interested in music, and eventually ended his law enforcement career in favor of becoming a musician. He moved to Berkeley, California and became a regular at area clubs, where he eventually got enough attention to secure a recording contract with Columbia Records. Later in the 1970s, he charted with singles such as "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise". Money continued his successes and took advantage of the MTV music video scene in the early 1980s with his humorous narrative videos for "Shakin'" and "Think I'm in Love", but his career began to fail him after several unsuccessful releases in the mid-1980s, accompanied by his struggles with drug addiction.
Money made a comeback two years later in 1986 and returned to the mainstream rock spotlight with the album Can't Hold Back, which featured a Ronnie Spector duet with "Take Me Home Tonight", which reached the Top 10, along with the hit "I Wanna Go Back". Money followed the album with another Top 10 hit, late 1988's "Walk on Water", but his Top 40 career ended when "I'll Get By" charted in 1992. During the 1990s and 2000s, Money continued to release numerous compilation albums along with several albums featuring new material. Today, he still tours the "Oldies" circuit regularly, often accompanied by other successful rock acts from his era, and has also made several television appearances on American sitcoms. Since 1992, Money has traditionally opened the summer concert season for DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI.
Eddie Money passed away from complications related to esophageal cancer in 2019 at the age of 70.
Shakin'

Stole the keys one night and took me for a ride
Turned up the music just as loud as it could go
Blew out the speakers in her daddy's radio
She was shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooh oh)
She was movin' round and round (oh oh ooh oh)
We started drinkin', wasn't thinkin' too straight
She was doin' 80 and she slammed on the brakes
Got so high we had to pull to the side
We did some shakin til the middle of the night
Shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooh oh)
She was up and down and round and round
Shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Shakin' (oh oh ooh oh) (oh oh ooh oh)
(Oh oh ooh oh) (oh oh ooh oh)
I got a little nervous
When she took her coat off
She looked so pretty
Ahh yeah
I'm always talkin' baby, talkin' too much
I love that little girl and I just can't get enough
It takes a lonely night with nowhere to go
Just call Rosanna, it's a hell of a show
And she's shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooh oh)
She'll be movin' round and round (oh oh ooh oh)
Oh she's shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooh oh)
She'll be movin' up and down (oh oh oo oh)
Round and round and round (oh oh ooh oh)
And shakin' (oh oh ooh oh)
Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'
Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'
Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'
Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'
The lyrics of Eddie Money's song Shakin' tell the story of a wild night out with an irresistible woman named Rosanna. The singer, who seems to be smitten with her, describes how they stole her father's car and drove off into the night with the music blaring. Rosanna is described as shakin', snappin' her fingers, and movin' up and down, painting a picture of a fun-loving and confident woman who is in control of the situation.
However, the night takes a darker turn when the singer reveals that they were both drinking, and Rosanna was driving dangerously fast. They have to pull over to the side of the road, but instead of stopping, they continue the party, shakin' until the middle of the night. Despite the danger and recklessness of the situation, the singer can't get enough of Rosanna and her alluring charm. The song ends with him recounting how he can always call her for a good time.
Overall, the lyrics of Shakin' are about taking risks and living for the moment with a seductive partner, despite the potential consequences. The song captures the excitement and thrill of youthful rebellion and lust, but also hints at the dangers that come with such behavior.

Man, I was just sitting back after a big family tragedy but u guys brought me back to life. What can we really say abt Eddie Money...so talented but never full of himself. He would have made a great cop like Serpico, if he wanted but he was destined for more. Rock star, charisma, funny, energy... it's like lightening in a bottle. God Bless Eddie. U were a total blast! U have a beautiful family & we are all waiting for u. RIP EDDIE

Eddie had one of the finest voices in rock, period. I'd put him pretty damn close to Paul Rogers.

If this song doesn't make your hips move, you might not have a soul. Some of the best of our Gen X childhood and teen years. I feel badly for all the rest cause we truly lived through the best!
