In 1975, Rabbitt signed on with Elektra Records, who had recently created a country music division. His early pieces were strongly C&W, such as "Two Dollars in the Jukebox." Later, his music began to be influenced by R&B and pop. He scored some of his biggest hits with tunes such as "Drinkin' My Baby Off My Mind" (1976), "You Don't Love Me Anymore" (1978), "I Love a Rainy Night" (1980), "Drivin' My Life Away" (1980), "Step by Step" (1981), and a duet with Crystal Gayle, "You and I" (1982) which broke over into the adult contemporary charts. He was also well-known for writing and recording the theme song for the 1978 Clint Eastwood movie "Every Which Way But Loose."
During the late 1980s, Rabbitt was one of many pop-influenced country stars who lost ground on the charts to more traditional-sounding artists. He recorded very little during the 1990s, in part because of the illness and subsequent death of his young son. After his son died, Rabbitt became active in raising money for organizations that aid sick children. Rabbitt himself died of lung cancer at the age of 56.
During his career, Rabbitt scored 26 #1 hits on the country charts, and had 8 Top 40 pop hits. He was named the Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music in 1977, and he won an American Music Award for Best Pop Male Vocalist in 1981.
Eddie Rabbitt is interred in Calvary Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.
She's Comin' Back To Say Goodbye

Comin' in at night
I'm gonna leave a little early
Wanna be there on time
'cause my baby's
Flyin' in tonight
And i really can't believe
I'm gonna look in her eyes
And my heart
Is racin' down the loop
But there is something
That my heart don't know
She ain't comin' back
To stay the night
She's just comin' back
To make things right
To tell me face to face the truth
She's found somebody new
In her life
No, she's ain't comin' back
To stay this time
She's just comin' back
To ease her mind
No, she ain't comin' back to stay
She's comin' back
To say goodbye
She ain't comin' back to stay
She's comin' back
To say goodbye
She sees the lights
Of the city below
In just a couple of minutes
We'll be kissin' hello
And she acts like
She's readin' a book
But she's thinkin'
How happy i'm gonna look
And already
There's a lump in her throat
I wish she'd tell me
What i don't wanna know
She ain't comin' back
To stay the night
She's just comin' back
To make things right
To tell me face to face the truth
She's found somebody new
In her life (in her life)
No, she's ain't comin' back
To stay this time
She's just comin' back
To ease her mind
No, she ain't comin' back to stay
She's comin' back
To say goodbye
She ain't comin' back to stay

The song "She's Comin' Back To Say Goodbye" by Eddie Rabbitt talks about a man's anticipation of his ex-girlfriend's arrival on a plane at night. He is excited to see her again and look into her eyes, but there is an underlying feeling of unease that he can't shake. As she arrives, he notices that she is acting strange and seems to be avoiding eye contact. It is then revealed that she has found someone new and is only coming back to say goodbye and make amends for the past.
The lyrics capture the mix of emotions that come with a failed relationship, the hope that sparks even when the situation seems hopeless, and the acceptance that comes with moving on. The song's message is a powerful one, reminding us that it is better to face the truth than to live in denial and that closure is essential to moving on.

R.I.P. Eddie..
My wife and I , 20 years together, and I don't trust her anymore. In the beginning it hurt like hell and staying at our home alone after my daughter and my wife left, well it tore me apart, went almost crazy from all of the memories bouncing off of the walls at me.. That was a hard time for me. I guess now, "looking back" it didn't bother them as it did me??
Anyway,... I'm through with her and it doesn't bother me or mess with my mind like it used to.
She wants to talk, I'm not hearing it because it is'nt nothing but a bunch of BS.
Just found out also about my 16 year old daughter dating a w7 year old man, he works and she is happy. The only thing that cant be addressed, i'm facing 10 years in prison, still out on bond, over a year now. Is the shit I have gone through in the last couple of years.. I can only wonder???
Anyway, dont want to air to much of my problems. But this seems to help..
Been listening to Eddie all afternoon, I really like American Boy, Eddie been through some tough times.
I'm trying to learn guitar and I have alot of words written down on paper, just dont no what to do with them. Maybe one day, either someone will find them or I will figure out what to do with them. If Eddie was still with us, I would maybe get him to help me.
REST IN PEACE EDDIE..
And you still live in me with your music..

Eddie is the most underrated singer in history. He had 20 #1 hits and when Bob Kingsely from American Country Countdown did a special year end Milliuem at the end of 1999 December31 a count down of all country music artist of all time, Eddie Rabbit came in at #5 of all time and there where huge names he came in ahead of. i think the only 4 that were ahead of him, #1 Eddie Arnold #2 Johnny Cash, #3 Conway Twitty #4 George Jones and Eddie Rabbit at #5 of all time. So ya Eddie was sold short because he spoke the truth and big corporations didn't want him talking, so they quit playing his music, Eddie will always be a huge part of country music, hell he is the only artists in history who has had over 10 songs hit the 100 million played each, next closet was 3 at the time. what a voice!
