A Heart Full Of Love
Eddie Redmayne Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In my life
She has burst like the music of angels
The light of the sun
And my life seems to stop
As if something is over
And something has scarcely begun.
Eponine
You're the friend who has brought me here
Thanks to you I am at one with the Gods
And Heaven is near!
And I soar through a world that is new that is free

Every word that he says is a dagger in me!
In my life
There's been no one like him anywhere
Anywhere, where he is
If he asked
I'd be his

In my life
There is someone who touches my life

Waiting near
Waiting here

A heart full of love
A heart full of song
I'm doing everything all wrong
Oh God, for shame
I do not even know your name
Dear Mademoiselle
Won't you say?
Will you tell?

A heart full of love
No fear, no regret
My name is Marius Pontmercy
And mine's Cosette
Cosette, I don't know what to say
Then make no sound
I am lost
I am found!

A heart full of love
(He was never mine to lose)
A heart full of you
(Why regret what cannot be?)
A single look and then I knew
I knew it too
(These are words he'll never say, not to me)
From today
(Not to me, no)

Every day
(His heart full of love)
For it isn't a dream

Not a dream after all
(He will never feel this way)

Overall Meaning

The song "In My Life/A Heart Full Of Love" from the musical Les Miserables performed by Eddie Redmayne expresses the emotions of two characters, Marius and Eponine, who both love someone they can't have. Eponine sings about her love for Marius and how being his friend has brought her closer to heaven. However, she feels like a dagger is being plunged into her heart every time he talks about his love for someone else. On the other hand, Marius sings about how there has been no one like the love of his life, Cosette, and if she asked, he would be hers. They both come together towards the end of the song, where Marius learns Eponine’s name and she sacrifices her life for him.

The lyrics and emotions expressed in this song are one of the highlights of the musical. It effectively portrays the complexity of love, passion, and heartbreak that the characters go through. Eponine's love for Marius, who only sees her as a friend, is heart-wrenching. At the same time, Marius is drawn to Cosette, and it is only when he realizes Eponine's love for him that he understands the depth of her sacrifice.

The three part harmony at the end is like straight up angelic

@Utkarshn

I remember the 1st time I heard it in a theatre. I began literally sobbing like a kid ... and clapping. Got lots of looks from people sitting around me (not that I cared) 🤪❤️

@awolnation2446

@@Utkarshn I would love to see it in theatres, but this is the closest I’m going to get for a while, if ever. The trio harmony at the end is just perfection in this movie compared to the others singing. Hugh jackman and Russell Crowe were just not great. Eddie redmayne on the other hand, with no professional theatre experience that I know of, or was it vocal experience? Regardless, he did an amazing vocal performance. Amanda Seyfried and Samantha Barks absolutely killed it with their performances. I watched this movie for the first time that I could remember for an English assignment and when I got to this part I was like “harmonic perfection”. For the other parts of this movie without them in it, it just wasn’t great. The emotional punches weren’t there.
