Look I don’t wanna battle
I don’t wanna battle
With you
With you
With you
With you
So baby just live the lie
Live the lie
Baby just live the lie
Live the lie
Live the lie
We could be all we need but I’m stuck in the middle
But I’m chasing the top
Faded off the cup ay young nigga in the mood for a little
But I can’t take a lot
Broke her off the hing now lately she just wanna get sinful
Trynna fuck up the spot
I could tell the truth but the lies make things so simple
Now she peeping the plot
Love the dreams in her head
I just keep em well kept
A lil demon in Prada
A lil devil in nada
Oh she taste like wata
And she do tricks like tada
Mix it up till I’m dizzy
Lord pray for my kidneys
And she cool I’m kizzy
And she swallow my kids b
That’s how I know she ain’t kidding me
These niggas whack is you shittin me
Baby suck me like candy
And I drink her like canteen
Baby love who I can be
And she ride me like a 10 speed
Baby girl want all of me
But she'll only get a piece
Only get a piece
Yea she only get a piece
Yea she only get a piece
Look I don’t wanna battle
I don’t wanna battle
With you
With you
With you
With you
So baby just live the lie
Live the lie
Baby just live the lie
Live the lie
Live the lie
So baby just live the lie
Live the lie
Baby just live the lie

Live the lie

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from Eddie and Sunshine's song "Lies" depict the feeling of betrayal and disappointment that arises from being lied to by a loved one. The opening lines paint a picture of a beautiful night under the moon, with the singer believing that heaven was in the eyes of their loved one. However, as the song progresses, it becomes clear that the loved one had been dishonest with the singer, telling them "little white lies" that they didn't mean. Despite this, the singer finds it hard to forget and regrets the situation, reflecting that the loved one had both the devil in their heart and heaven in their eyes.

The song captures the feeling of being disappointed or deceived by someone that we care about, and the impact that it can have on us emotionally. The lyrics highlight the difficulty that comes with trying to forget or move past such an event, and the deep emotions that arise when we recall the hurt caused by someone we trusted.

When I see this vid I am transported back to Sept 1981. It is quite a delight.  I had to beg for the money to pay for the ticket.  Beg and scavenge. I even collected money from returning bottles and cans. I also stripped the house down for coins jammed in cracks by the previous owner's kids.  I think that is why I got the ticket from my parents. I saved and saved I I got enough money to buy an Ultravox t-shirt and an E&D 7" (All I See is You). It was an adventure. Perhaps performers do not realise what influence they have on people...

@smudgercreole

Marvelous back up to Ultravox at Hammersmith Odean now Hammersmith Apollo. Also at 'futurist' club in Cippenham. I've got this on 12" single but no record player. :-(
