Following a collaboration with YouTubers Alex Day and Charlie McDonnell, Ed joined Doctor Who-themed band Chameleon Circuit, being a constant presence during their sessions in London and Paris for sophomore album Still Got Legs, which released in 2011, and for which he was a primary songwriter as well as contributing vocals and guitar.
The same summer, Ed released an EP of new solo material titled Picture Unrelated, leaning more heavily on his pop punk influences. After a short series of promotional shows this led to work beginning on his second album, Nothing To Worry About , which released in 2012.
Hush
Eddplant Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't cry for me
I miss you too
Perhaps more than you miss me
I'll see you soon
Don't you worry 'bout that
Play this song on repeat
Until I come back
Same old story
Same tired routine
Kindred hearts
With all this distance in-between
I'll write to you
Every night that I can
And on some winter day
I'll hold you again
And all our patient waiting
Will be satisfied in that embrace
So I'm asking you
Hush now, darling wait
Hush my darling
I'm thinking of you
Think of me whene'er
Your heart's been rent in two
Worry not
I'm doing just fine
Knowing I am yours
And you are mine
So hush now, darling listen
For I must impart one more truth
Just three simple words
I love you
In Eddplant's song "Hush," the lyrics express a conversation between two people who are struggling with distance and separation. The singer is telling their loved one not to cry for them because they miss them just as much. They assure their partner that they will see each other soon and to play a particular song in the meantime. The song is about the familiar story of long-distance relationships and trying to keep the connection alive while being apart. The singer reassures their partner that they will write to them every night and hold them on a winter day, expressing a sense of hope and patience.
The lyrics capture the emotion and pain of being separated from someone you love while trying to hold onto a connection. The singer expresses their desire to be reunited and share a loving embrace, knowing that all the waiting will be worth it. The lyrics convey a sense of reassurance to the other person, encouraging them to hush and wait patiently until they can be together again. The singer ends the song by telling their loved one that they love them, leaving a lasting impression of the power of love and connection even in a long-distance relationship.
