Heavily influenced by American rock & roll, Mitchell (who went solo in 1963) has often recorded outside France, at first in London, but later in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee. Guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Bob Graham were among the British session musicians who regularly supported him in London.

Des aventures d'Aladin
Et de l'histoire fabuleuse
De la lampe merveilleuse ?
Les parents ont oublié,
A leurs enfants, de conter
L'aventure extraordinaire
Moi je suis le grand Génie
Qui, dans la lampe, endormi
Attend les commandements
D'Aladin le tout puissant
Nous combattions des vizirs
Méchants, capables du pire
Aladin gagnait toujours
Mille et une nuits d'amour
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Ton génie te le demande
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Ton génie te le demande
Aujourd'hui qui se souvient
Des aventures d'Aladin
De son grand tapis volant
Des ailes de son cheval blanc ?
Je suis le puissant Génie
Qui, dans la lampe, s'ennuie
Aladin, si tu m'entends
Repartons tout comme avant
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Ton génie te le demande
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Aladin
Allume la lampe
Ton génie te le demande
The lyrics of "Aladin" by Eddy Mitchell reminisce about the forgotten childhood tales of Aladin and his magical lamp. The singer wonders who remembers the incredible adventures of Aladin and the fabulous story of the lamp. Mitchell then goes on to describe how parents have stopped telling their children about the legend of Aladin and how he fought against evil viziers, and won his battles with the help of the genie.
The nostalgic song aims to remind listeners of the tales of Aladin, his magic carpet, and his white horse’s wings. The song is a call to Aladin, asking him to light the lamp and to call upon his all-powerful genie to relive the magical adventures once again. The lyrics are a tribute to the stories that have fascinated children for centuries, and that still hold their fascination, irrespective of their culture or background.
