Heavily influenced by American rock & roll, Mitchell (who went solo in 1963) has often recorded outside France, at first in London, but later in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee. Guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Bob Graham were among the British session musicians who regularly supported him in London.

Du mal de toi parce que
Tu te répandais sur moi
Cet hiver j'aurai pas froid
Tu m'as bien habillé
Washah - washah - washah
Washah - washah - washah
The lyrics of Eddy Mitchell's "On m'a dit que" reflect a conversation between two lovers who are being told rumors about each other. The song begins with the singer acknowledging that he has heard that he said bad things about his partner because she was being too clingy in the past. However, he points out that he has no intention of believing those who have spread the rumors that they want to see the couple separate.
The chorus of the song urges the partner to communicate better despite the negative energy around them. The singer wants to focus on their relationship despite the negativity coming from other people ("Laisse les vipères siffler/Laisse le bon temps rouler"). He acknowledges that there is no smoke without fire, but he insists that they should work through their issues together ("L'amour ça se brûle a deux").
