The Harvest
Eden Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In this self-made prison I'm dying
God help me

My days of 'life' have faded into distant memories
Resurrect my youth, I have been holding on
In your light I pray to wash away the shame
Bleed my sorrow or take my soul today
I'm falling, drowning in tragedy
When will peace be returned to me?

In your soil of life I planted seeds of tomorrow
For all my light will bloom and purge your sorrow
When you are wise enough to accept the truth
I will bring you back all of your youth

"Rain, come again
Fall upon my son today and bring him new life"
Harvest day- dry your tears
And walk in my daylight again

Harvest day?
Could this really be the end of my disarray?
Harvest day
Another chapter of you has been written today

Harvest day?
Could this really be the end of my disarray?
Harvest day
Another chapter of you will be done

"Rain, come again
Fall upon my son today and bring him new life"
Harvest day- dry your tears
And walk in my daylight again

Today the sorrow shall end

The sun is searing through
Life has returned to you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Eden's song "The Harvest" depict a sense of feeling trapped and imprisoned in one's own self. The singer is desperately seeking help from a higher power, crying out to God for assistance. The days of living a meaningful life have become distant memories, and the singer longs to regain their youth and hold on to it. They find solace in praying to be cleansed of their shame and to either release their sorrow or surrender their soul.

The theme of tragedy and longing for peace runs throughout the lyrics. The singer feels like they are falling and drowning in their sorrow, yearning for a return to tranquility. However, in the second verse, there is a glimmer of hope. The singer metaphorically describes themselves as planting seeds of tomorrow in the soil of life, hoping that their light will bloom and alleviate the listener's sorrow. They believe that once the listener accepts the truth and becomes wise enough, they will be able to restore their youth.

The chorus introduces the idea of a harvest day, signifying a turning point in the singer's disarray. They question if this day can truly mark the end of their troubles, and another chapter of their life is being written anew. The repeated plea for rain symbolizes rejuvenation and new life. The song closes with a powerful declaration that the sorrow will finally end and that life has returned.

I love my back to Eden garden here in Indiana. I planted 6 cucumber plants this year and harvested over 1000 cucumbers. We have so many pickles I'm set for a long time. What's even more fun is giving food away with neighbors and family.  We also have bushels and bushels of tomatoes, green beans, cantaloupes, squash, green beans and more.  Its a great method.

Great looking stuff. We pluck the sucker leaves and grow a single stem up a stake or string for both cucumbers and tomatoes.
Less green sucking energy from the plant = more fruit. It also allows to have plants closer together. Check out I am NJ Organic, he has a load of info on BTE garden and the science of it. Cheers!!
