forever//over
Eden Lyrics

Life is just going so quickly, I can't catch it
I don't think anyone can

I met the devil in the hills last night
I was driving by myself, alone
He said, "Boy, what you running from?"
I said I don't know
I don't know if it was a better time
But girl, we were giants then
Endless nights, we were infinite (so, terrified, I guess)
Summer's end would mean the death of us

But summer passed, and we grew up
And all of our paths, they split up
And I haven't seen your face or heard your voice in so long
So, so long
We had a good run, it's over now
No, I'm not sad about it, but, I'm just, it's weird

Yeah, lying on the grass, talk is so old
Living under Orion, we grew so bold
Lying on our days, we were outlaws
Our loss, but, catch me if you can, never wiped out
Tryin' to catch a wave, tryin' to break out
I guess I didn't know
And now I'm gone, but it don't hurt me anymore
That's just the way it goes, yeah, I should've known
But, I heard you talking to the walls late last night
"There are no ends, just grays and half-lives"
Half-time (and I heard you), it's alright (and I heard you)

That summer passed, and we grew up
And all of our plans, they split us up
And I haven't seen your face or heard your voice in so long
So, so long
We had a good run, it's over now

So, please, don't fade me now
So, please, don't fade me now
So, please, don't lose me now
I heard the words that you never said
Smokescreen from a cigarette
Exhale, we could never be what's in our heads (So, please, don't fade me now)
Elevation doesn't matter now, it's straight ahead
Sending shivers down my spine, life pirouettes
It's cool, we're used to losing real friends
Only ever feeling it in retrospect (So, please, don't fade me now)
And we were really breathing, not silhouettes
Maybe in another dream this would never end

'Cause everything is not alright, and we are falling
But that's just life, without some lows there is no highs
And everything will be okay, though we are all hurting
'Cause time flies fast and you know, no pain is forever
Ever, forever

I'm not saying, I'm not saying you should
Be really cautious and shit, I'm quite the opposite
Just like, it's, I mean, so, exactly
No pain lasts forever is ridiculous, you think?
I think that's ridiculous

You think that's ridiculous?
Yeah, of course everything lasts forever

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Eden's song forever//over explore the theme of time and its transient nature. The song begins with the artist reflecting on how life is moving quickly and he feels unable to keep up. He then describes meeting the devil in the hills and being questioned about what he is running from, but not having a clear answer. The artist then reminisces about a previous time in his life where he felt he and a companion were "giants" and infinite, but that time has passed, and summer's end brought about the end of that era. The artist describes how paths deviated, and he hasn't seen or heard from the other person in a long time. Although the artist is not sad about the end of this era, he acknowledges that it still feels strange.

The song then continues with the artist reminiscing more about the past, such as lying on the grass talking, growing bold under Orion, and being outlaws. The artist reflects on how he didn't know then what he knows now and that he's moved on, and it doesn't hurt him anymore. However, he overheard the other person talking to walls about how there are no ends but grays and half-lives, and the artist hopes that they won't fade away now. The artist acknowledges that life has its ups and downs and that everything will be okay, even if they are currently hurting.

Overall, forever//over is a contemplative track that explores time and the inevitable end of eras and relationships. The artist reflects on his past and acknowledges that growth and change are part of life. The lyrics also touch on the idea of pain and how it isn't permanent, and that everything will be okay in the end.

this song helped me in so many ways. the first time i heard it i never wanted to stop hearing it. it’s so funny, reading all these comments, how much a song can really do for someone. one of the reasons why forever//over was one of my favourites is because of the line right at the end...

“everything will be okay, cause we are all hurting. cuz time flys fast and **you know no pain is forever, forever**....”

it just really.. gets me everytime. whenever my mum and i had a fight and she was rlly mad at me, that meant that i had no one to go to. I go to my mum for everything, i still do. I know it’s bad but anyways that’s a different story. what i’m trying to say is, she had always said that “i know happiness doesn’t last forever, but neither does pain.” You know no pain is forever. Listening to eden tell me that made me feel so comforted that i would just cry.

**this is what i would starting sobbinnngggg to becuase it would be how i felt. wow do i feel so thankful for eden right now**

“everything is not alright, and we are falling...
But that’s just life without some lows there is no highs...
And everything will be okay, that we are all hurting... Cuz time flies fast and you know no pain is forever, ever. Forever.

He is my Dumbledore. ☹️

I've screamed your lyrics, cried to them, danced, and sang to your songs in my car, in a forest, under water, in the shower, and all over various places where I've lived my life FOR YEARS... more than you could imagine. I know all the lyrics by heart.. I've done some dumb shit while listening to your songs at my lowest points. After all these years I still listen to your music daily during my drives to and from places or when I feel like I'm mentally breaking. Your music is a huge part of my life, both positive and negative. Thank you for being my escape and release and having your music here for when I'm fragile and just plain human.

@lol-le5pb

i hope you’re doing better now:)
