Out of This World
Edenbridge Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The sleeping giant
Entangled
Am I
Ended in deadlock
Mistreated
By and by
So mine a rich seam
Do as you would be done by

(chorus)
Caught in this here
The sadness sincere all alone
I was shaped into form
Caught in this pain
In a world inhumane
You fight what you don´t understand
Jaded am i
My well ran dry
On the slope
Is there no ray of hope
In the end, torn and swirled
I feel I'm out of this world

And looking down the ages
This treasure
We call liberty
Boundless dreams have no end
They just depend
On your will to be free

(chorus)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Edenbridge's song Out of this World speak of the singer's struggle with feeling trapped and isolated in a world that they see as cruel and unforgiving. The opening lines refer to the singer feeling like a "sleeping giant," entangled and trapped in a situation that seems insurmountable. The following lines describe a feeling of being mistreated and abandoned, leading to a sense of helplessness and despair. Despite this, the singer recognizes the importance of treating others with kindness and fairness, acknowledging that the old adage of "do as you would be done by" is still relevant.

The chorus of the song speaks of the overwhelming sense of sadness and loneliness that the singer feels, as though they are completely alone in their struggle. They describe feeling "jaded" and drained of energy, as though their "well ran dry." However, the lyrics also suggest that there is still hope for the future, even if it seems distant and difficult to grasp. The final lines of the chorus, where the singer asks if there is "no ray of hope," suggest that they are still searching for a way out of their current situation.

In the second verse, the lyrics take on a more positive note, as the singer reflects on the idea of "liberty" and the importance of having dreams and aspirations. The words "boundless dreams have no end" suggest that the singer believes that anything is possible, as long as they have the willpower and determination to pursue their goals. Overall, the song appears to be a reflection on the complexities of the human experience, with its highs and lows, joys and sorrows, and moments of hope and despair.

The background vocals from Edenbridge are the best I've heard. The drummer is always great and I'm not sure how the guitarist isn't more well known....especially on this song.

SYMPHONICOVERS

One of their best songs, in my opinion, after The Bonding

I love it.  Stately vocals that build into a finish of soaring guitar lines. Gorgeous.
