Perennial Dreams
Edenbridge Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This blueprint of reality
Spoiling for a fight I left no stone unturned
for ever and one day
The gale force in my heart will stay
And I don't care a straw about the lessons learned
Free I can hear this haunting melody
Ever since the spirits rose in me
[chorus]
The shadows of darkness
Or the light of the world
Leaving those energetic streams
A soldier of fortune
Or a fancier at all
Keeping on for perennial dreams
will this tide ever turn
Before my restless heart will burn
The elfstruck time elapses to the eventide
it is a game of skill
And it is playing with your will
The floatlight marks the harbour there it is my guide
[pre-chorus]
[chorus]
[bridge]
The spangled heaven's gleam
A neverending stream
Will arise in my perennial dream
[chorus]
The lyrics of Edenbridge's song Perennial Dreams seem to be about the struggle to find one's place in reality and the steadfast determination to pursue dreams despite the obstacles that may come. The singer contemplates the nature of reality, wondering how they could navigate it successfully. They are ready for any challenge, determined to leave no stone unturned in their quest for success. The pre-chorus and chorus seem to speak to the spiritual nature of the quest, with the haunting melody representing a call to something greater than themselves. The shadows of darkness can be seen as the distractions and setbacks that come with pursuing one's goals, while the light of the world represents the success and fulfillment that can be found in achieving those dreams. The singer is likened to both a soldier of fortune, a person who is willing to take bold risks to achieve their goals, and a fancier, someone who has a passion and love for something and is dedicated to pursuing it.
The bridge offers a vision of something beyond this reality, a "spangled heaven's gleam" that will arise in the singer's "perennial dream." This dream seems to represent the ultimate fulfillment of their desire, an eternal state of happiness and satisfaction.
