Descent
Edge of Dawn Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Here's to summer heat
And sweat
Skin in mad abundance
Regret? Reset!
AYT
One for you and three for me
Availability, no responsibility
Pretty, annoying, dead
CYT
Smoke this trident just for me
Blatant arrogance
Fake some innocence
DYT
Three on you is good fun for me
This sorority deserves no mercy
Pretty, annoying, dead
A provocation and a
Bad case of ruby red
Skinny, annoying, dead
Rise and fall
Counter violence
A simple answer to your call
Smell of sunscreen
Do you mind a bit of cream
Omega Chi
Do you really wonder why?
Smell of sunscreen
Do you mind a bit of (extra) cream
Back print
Angel wings
The flower girl's a saint
You feed her and she feeds you back
Attention, tar, and taint
Don't fall for the flower girl
She knows just what you think
This fortnight she'll regenerate
She'll dance and cast her skin
The lyrics to Descent by Edge of Dawn evoke a sense of carefree summer days and reckless abandon. The song is full of references to youth culture, with mentions of sororities, suntan lotion, and references to the Omega Chi fraternity. The song is littered with double entendres, and it's not entirely clear what the true meaning behind the lyrics is. However, it's clear that the song is intended to be provocative and subversive.
The song's opening line, "PYT, here's to summer heat and sweat" sets the tone for the rest of the song. It's a celebration of youth, sex, and hedonism. The lyrics continue with references to "skin in mad abundance" and "availability, no responsibility." It's a call to live in the moment and take advantage of the freedoms that youth offers.
The reference to the flower girl in the final verse adds a layer of complexity to the song. The flower girl is often associated with innocence and purity, but in this context, she's portrayed as something more sinister. She's aware of the true intentions of those around her, and she's willing to use her beauty and charm to get what she wants.
