I. Silence Can Be Deafening

I didn’t sign up for this
So I’m not sure what I’m supposed to say…
Silence Can Be Deafening sometimes
When you’re so far away… So Far Away…
I Fall Away
I wish I could touch you but you’re not there
Can’t feel a thing, don’t know if I even care
Every day I just need to make it through to one more day
But you’re so far away... I Fall Away… Away

Oh and I … I’ll never forget your face
You know I’m always going to need you
...to feel your warm embrace
Oh and I… I wish that I could stay
You know I’m always going to love you
...in my own special way

You look like you’re lost, come take my hand
And follow me to another land
You don’t need to spend every waking day
Running Away… From what you can’t forget
Haunted by Your Silhouette

Oh and I… I’ll never forget your face
You know I’m always gonna need you
...to feel your warm embrace
Oh and I… If only I could stay
You know I’m always going to miss you
...as much as I do today
Oh and I… I’m going to love you
...in my own special way

II. Welcome To Your Dreamland

Welcome to your Dreamland
You’ve drifted miles away
There’s someone here waiting for you
They have something they want to say
Wake You, Make You, Take You along to a very special place
Is this what you want? Is this why you’ve come?
Is this what you were hoping to find?
Fall Away… find your way back home
Don’t turn around, there’s no place to run
I’m afraid your comfort zone is in decline
Is this is what you want? Is this why you’ve come?
Is this what you were expecting to find?
They’ll Wake You, Make You, Take You to a very special place
Where everything you’ve ever hoped for is laying there in waste
Such a disgrace... Going Insane.

III. Where Were You?

Where were you when the hurricanes came? Where were you for the Eastern rains?
Where were you?
Where were you when the winds came forth? Where were you when the gales blew north?
Where were you?

I’ve wanted to walk back out into the warmth of the morning sun. It’s in my head…
Won’t you take me back to where the rivers used to run? It’s in my head… my head…………

Where were you when the winter came south? Where were you for the 7 year drought?
Where were you?
Where were you when the rivers ran dry? Where were you when the crops all died?
Where were you?

No I can’t get back... Yet I want to get back... But the cards are all stacked... You know I need to get back..
It’s the only thing stopping my memory... Fade and fall!
And I can’t get back... But I want to get back... No, the cards are all stacked... And I need to get back...
They’re the only things stopping my memory... Fade and fall! (Are you out of your tiny mind?)

Where were you when the quakes broke ground? Where were you when the mountains came down?
Where were You?
Where were you when the horseman rode west? Where were you when the 4 came to rest?
Where were you?

I’ve wanted to walk back out into the warmth of the morning sun. It’s in my head…
Take me back to where the rivers used to run. It’s in my head… my head… my head…..
Won’t you let me be there when it all was still so young? It’s in my head.....

IV. The Longing

A Winter’s fire burning bright
Funny the things you long for…
Warming your soul in the night
Funny the things you long for…
Now I feel so cold aching in my bones
I just want a place to call home
And I will roam this netherworld
Until I know that you are never alone
One more chance to say goodbye
Funny the things that you long for…
One more chance to hold you tight
Funny the things you long for…

Wandering in and out of your mind
When I had to desert you
I know you feel so betrayed
I never wanted to hurt you
Even when you feel all alone, I won’t be far from home
Just close your eyes And I will be all around you…

Was I really there or just the fleeting vision from the corner of your eye?
Just a vision from your mind overwhelmed by that chill inside
A glimpse into a world completely lost in its own despair
I can’t move on from here until I know that I’m in there
Forevermore…

So when things fall from the wall
that’s just my way of making a curtain call
Ever creek in the floor, ever squeak in the door
...every noise in the hall
So when you get up at night and see a strange sort of light
It’s the way that you know
I will watch over you from The Longing…

V. The Morphlux

Whispering in the dark - They know your name, they know what they’re after
Wandering through the park - Drawn towards this hideous laughter
Waiting to make their mark - Lurking around in all the wrong places
They were there from the start - Blending in with all the other faces
Slithering through the cracks - Something just beneath your footprints
Living under the tracks - Attracted by your tale of transgressions
What’s there behind your back? - You never know what’s crawling behind you
Why don’t you just relax? - That’s how the Morphlux finally finds you
The light is growing dim - Now it’s time to run for shelter
They glide in very slow - Then suddenly it’s helter skelter
There’s no place left to run - The shadows begin to surround all around you
What’s that terrible sound? - The Morphlux has taken you down…

VI. I Am Haunted

Lost in the Woods, I can’t seem to find my way home
Into the light shining bright, I am Haunted
Banished to this Netherworld if I ignore it
Condemned to dwell on past regrets for eternity.

I’m not ready yet, just give me a little more time
I’ve wasted every moment of this legacy
I should have, I could have, I would have … but I didn’t.
And now they’ve come to take a hold of me.

VII. What Did You Want?

What did you want? What did you need?
You won’t get it...

A lifetime of hurt. A lifetime of greed.
Is what you made it...

Did you feel good? Did you stand tall?
Contemplate it...

Arrogant fraud, Behind the wheel
Think about it...

We're in control, Tormented soul
Our Marionette...

We hold the key, To your amnesty
Eternally...

Turn back the clock. Undo that lock
Out of your grasp...

You face yourself, Your nemesis
Recognition

VIII. The Seventh Sign
I. The Wrong

When I looked to the sky
it was from the wrong side of the rainbow
The rains had all gone
but the sun refused to shine
The forest before the trees,
burned to ash and embers
As the calm before the storm
brought turbulence to the great divide

II. The Acolyte

Don’tcha want to see it?
Don’tcha want to be it?
Don’tcha want to need it?
Don’tcha want to bleed it?
Don’tcha want to heed it?
Don’tcha want to seed it?
Don’tcha want to feed it?
Don’tcha want to eat it?

III. The Hollows

From miles away…
From mountains to borders
The storms would rise
Across horizons into skies

A seer’s gaze...
Looked down upon the Hollows
Only to fathom
It will never again be the same.

IV. The Road (Less Travelled)

The road less traveled
Had arrived at its destination
There was no place like home
Left for us to reside

And the show that must go on
Completed it’s final performance
The darkness before the dawn
Would never give way to light…

IX. The Second Coming Of The Morphlux

Something’s under the bed - Waiting for you to fall in slumber
They say it’s all in your head - A nightmare or some frightening thunder
Things better left unsaid - They’ll only think that you’ve gone bonkers
And soon they’ll start to spread - And soon you’ll know that you’ve been conquered
They’ll follow you everywhere - They’re a part of all of our shadows
Complete Unaware - Revealing themselves on All Hallows
Un-Agressively well prepared - They’re just very Opportunistic
You’ll soon let down your hair - What’s next is nothing short of sadistic...

X. Silence Can Be Deafening (Part II)

This wasn’t what I envisioned, So don’t ask me why I chose to stay
Silence Can Be Deafening Sometimes, When you’re so far away... So far away… I fall away…
Spirited apparitions I sing a requiem... Inspired by what I myself cannot comprehend
Shadows dart across the halls... They spin and pirouette
Enchanted by the visions, of your silhouette,.. Of your Silhouette… Of your Silhouette…
Oh and I … I’ll never forget your face
You know I’m always gonna need you... to feel your warm embrace
Oh and I… If only I could stay... you know I’m gonna miss you... as much as I do today
Oh and I... I’m always gonna love you
In my own special way

XI. Welcome To Your Nightmares

Welcome back to your nightmares... I knew I would see you again
I warned you this would happen if you fell back to sleep ... Close your eyes and count to 10
Don’t turn around, there’s no place to run, I’m afraid your comfort zone is in decline
Is this what you want, is this why you’ve come, is this what you were expecting to find?
Fall Away... Find your way back home
They’ll wake you, make you, take you to... a very special place
Where everything you’ve hoped for... is laying there in waste
Such a disgrace

XII. Music For The End Credits Of An Existence

(Instrumental)

XIII. The Clock Strikes November

I can see you hiding away - wouldn’t you like a friend to talk to?
can you come out and play? - the morphlux we just want to meet you!

I can’t go on much longer like this... I can’t let down my guard ... until the fog has cleared

Twisting deep into your conscious - you can’t flee from the inevitable
If you give us just half a chance - you’ll find we’re slightly more than incredible
Go ahead and lock your doors - we’ve already slipped on through the crevices
The wicked was already within - there is no way to hide from the darkness

Entangled inside myself - the dusk is rising up to my estrangement
I’m becoming the morphlux - one of the shadows dancing across the pavement

I can’t seem to catch my breath - you’ll be catching something else that’s rather vicious
If you glance at my mealy eyes - what happens next is nothing short of masochistic..

Overall Meaning

The song "Silhouette" by Edison's Children is divided into 13 different parts, each with their own unique lyrical theme. The first part, "Silence Can Be Deafening," seems to deal with the frustration and loneliness of feeling disconnected from someone you care about. The singer longs to be with this person and feel their warm embrace but can only see their silhouette in the distance. The repeated phrase "I fall away" suggests a sense of defeat or hopelessness in the situation.

The second part, "Welcome To Your Dreamland," takes on a more surreal and ominous tone. The singer seems to be warning the listener about entering a dangerous or unfamiliar place, urging them not to turn back but also suggesting that their "comfort zone is in decline." The lyrics are full of contrasts between light and dark, hope and despair.

@haroldt101

Just saw the group yesterday, July 13, 2019 at Cocoa Village, Florida (the Space Coast of Florida.) They were the opening act for The Alan Parson's Project. This was an outdoor event, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Landing on the moon. I was VERY impressed. Great Progressive music. Glad to see bands are still writing and preforming progressive rock.

@jameswright5799

Total bliss from first note to last. The Final Breath still my favourite album by Edison`s Children, followed closely by The Disturbance Fields. These guys quite simply produce fantastic music for true music lovers.
