Dois Coelhos
Edu Lobo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Vi dois coelhos comendo
o verde do capinzal
e a terra ficou ferida
dos dentes claros de sal

Vi dois coelhos bebendo
o verde da água lenta
e o mundo ficou pequeno
nos dentes cor de pimenta

Vi dois coelhos roendo
o verde dos olhos dela
e o nosso amor foi morrendo

nos dentes cor de canela
nos dentes cor de canela

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Dois Coelhos" by Edú Lobo present a simple but powerful metaphor. The songwriter describes observing two rabbits eating the green grass, drinking the clear water, and nibbling on the girl's green eyes. However, despite the innocent and peaceful nature of these actions, the consequences are destructive. The earth is left wounded, the world seems smaller, and love fades away.

The rabbits, in this context, could represent the primal and gentle nature of humans, living harmoniously with nature. Their "teeth" (claros de sal, cor de pimenta, cor de canela) represent the natural force that grinds, digests, and alters everything it comes into contact with. Therefore, the rabbits become a symbol of transformation, growth, and decay, all processes that are necessary to maintain the balance of life. However, the fact that their actions result in destruction suggests that the song may be an ecological warning, pointing out the irreversible consequences of human intervention in nature.

Overall, "Dois Coelhos" is a beautiful, poetic song that offers multiple layers of interpretation. It invites the listener to reflect on the interconnectedness of things and the impact of our choices on the environment and ourselves.

Dois Coelhos, minha música inesquecível. Cacaso e Edu.
