Born in Kingston, Jamaica as Ripton Hylton, Eek-a-Mouse began his foray into reggae music when he was in college, but did not begin to garner a substantial audience until 1979 with his hit "Once a Virgin". This same year, he changed his singing name to "Eek-a-Mouse", the name of the racehorse he always bet on. In 1981, he cheered up the Reggae Sunsplash Festival, which was still mourning over the death of reggae icon Bob Marley. After this, his fame continued increasing through the year 1982 until 1988, when he released "Eek-A-Nomics", his last full-length CD until 1996.
Eek-a-Mouse is a regular at the Jamaican music festival Reggae Sunsplash and often teams up with reggae duo Michigan and Smiley. He has also been featured on Christian rock group P.O.D.'s (Payable on Death) album Satellite, lending his vocals to the rock-reggae track "Ridiculous".

There was a man whose name was Hitler
Him just a go on like him superior
While other races he said is inferior,
So infwrior
Jah Jah know that it was really true
Two hundred thousand Polish children he kidnap
They did not come back
All day all night me say him really provoke
Him use them skin and he turn to soap
Remember this is history and this aint no joke,
And this aint no joke
Me say him form the S.S. Nazi
Whole heap of artillery them carry
(Scatting)
Him put many in a gas chamber
Then history I man remember
I do not not know if it happen in September or October,
November or December
(Scatting)
There was a man whose name was Hitler
Him just a go on like him superior
While other races he said is inferior,
Is inferior
When him heard about the Allied
Me say Hitler him run go hide
Another man him a say him commit suicide
Jah know say him died
All day all night me say him really provoke
Him use some of them skin and turn to soap
This is history and remember this aint no joke,
This aint no joke
Oh yes, oh oh oh yes yes yes
Jah Jah know say him form the S.S.S.
(Scatting)
Me say them call themselves the Nazi
Whole heap of artillery them carry
The lyrics to Eek-a-Mouse's song "Hitler" are a commentary on the atrocities committed by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime during World War II, particularly the genocide of Jewish people. The lyrics condemn Hitler's beliefs in the superiority of the Aryan race and the inferiority of other races. The singer acknowledges that Hitler's actions resulted in the deaths of millions of Jews, including the kidnapping of Polish children who were not returned. The song reflects on the horrific events that were committed, reminding listeners that this is not a joke and that history is important to remember. The narrative ends by noting that Hitler committed suicide when he realized he could not evade the Allied forces.
The repetitive scatting in the song adds emphasis to the message and creates a foreboding atmosphere. It is particularly powerful because it represents the lack of words to express the horrors committed by Hitler and his followers. Eek-a-Mouse does an excellent job of using his voice and lyrics to convey the impact of Hitler's actions.
