Push Away
Egypt Central Lyrics

But I was born of another blinded faith (starting to push away)
Every fiber of my frame is like a flooded vein
I got it all to gain if I keep letting it flow
Never, not been on my own
Never let this truth be shown,
Not afraid to be alone and I'm just letting you know
Don't tell me what's right or wrong
There's two sides to every story
Why don't we just get along,
The age that separates our lives
Look at me now because I'm living what's been lost (long before my time)
Head to head and even I found my cure (starting to push away)
Every cell that binds that my soul is like a story told
The ending won't unfold till I've done all that I can
I'm ripping time apart, to get another start
Life made into an art, a painting of a man with a chance
(Chorus)
Don't tell me what's right or wrong
There's two sides to every story
Why don't we just get along,
The age that separates our lives
I'm never gonna fall down. I'm never gonna fall down. I'm never gonna fall down and break. (echo, repeat)
(Chorus) x2
Don't tell me what's right or wrong
There's two sides to every story
Why don't we just get along,
The age that separates our lives
The lyrics of Egypt Central's song Push Away reflect the experience of someone who is struggling to break away from the expectations that others have placed upon them. The opening lines of the song suggest that the person was supposed to be a reflection of someone else's values and beliefs but was unable to fulfill that role because of their own doubts and questions. The singer acknowledges that they have been living in a state of confusion and denial, but they are now ready to push away from the expectations of others and find their own way.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the theme of "two sides to every story," suggesting that there are differing perspectives and that neither is necessarily right or wrong. The singer is calling for a more cooperative and accepting approach to life, rather than one in which people are quick to judge or condemn each other. The closing lines of the song express the singer's determination to stay true to themselves and not allow themselves to be broken or defeated.
Overall, Push Away is a powerful anthem of self-discovery and independence, urging listeners to embrace their own identities and to embrace others in a spirit of openness and understanding.
