Ô Toi
Eiffel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ô Toi by Eiffel are rather cryptic and enigmatic. The song seems to be a narration of an intense and disturbing experience, possibly taking place in a dream or a surreal landscape. The singer, addressing someone he calls "Ô Toi" throughout the song, talks about his desire to inflict pain and violence on this person, whom he alternately describes as his lover and his victim.

The first couplet sets an ominous tone, as the singer wonders how he could express his feelings to "Ô Toi," and tells him or her to imagine the worst possible scenario. The following lines describe violent acts such as hitting "Ô Toi" with a gouge, a kind of chisel used for carving, and looking for movements under his or her skin. The second couplet suggests that the singer intends to deny "Ô Toi" any pleasure during this ordeal and make him or her suffer instead.

The next stanza is even more obscure, as it depicts underwater scenes and strange creatures. The singer evokes the image of red curtains dripping with honey and small octopuses crawling on a smooth throat. He warns that "Ô Toi" will only get a taste of what he or she craves and questions whether he or she can resist it. The final lines form a surreal, almost nonsensical sequence, mentioning sulfur smells, a butterfly in a spiral, a crunching spine, a swarm of locusts, and some mysterious hashish.

@Chiara Ciriolo onore a te.... E allora mi emozionava tantissimo come adesso.
