My Console
Eiffel 65 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We're gonna play the game the Playstation all day,
with Metal Gear Solid to Tekken 3.
And from Omega Boost to Resident Evil
just play for the fun
Cause we got it going on.

Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid
Resident evil, Gran Turismo, Omega Boost,
Bloody Roar, X-Files, another world
come on
Ridge Racer
Odd World
we get a living
that came in our possession

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Eiffel 65's song "My Console" are all about the joys of playing video games on a Playstation console. The lyrics begin with the declaration that the game console is going to be played all day long, with various popular games mentioned such as Metal Gear Solid and Tekken 3. The chorus repeats the name of the console, affectionately spelling out the letters in what seems to be a way of expressing nostalgia and enthusiasm for the device. The lyrics also mention other games such as Resident Evil and Gran Turismo, while also referring to games like "Ridge Racer" and "Odd World". The song seems to emphasize the fact that the Playstation offers a way for people to truly immerse themselves in the world of video games for hours on end.

The lyrics of "My Console" are fairly straightforward and simply celebrate the thrill of playing video games on a console, but the song itself is actually a relatively deep cut on Eiffel 65's first album, "Europop". The song was praised by some video game enthusiasts upon its release, as it was seen as a kind of tribute to the emerging culture of video gaming. The song was released in 1999, when the Playstation was at the height of its popularity, and the lyrics connect with a wider cultural fascination with the idea of video games providing an avenue for immersive play and exploration. Overall, "My Console" is a catchy pop tribute to the joys of video games and the innovative new technologies that allow players to participate in an exciting and immersive gaming experience.

As an adult, it's weird that there is a song that I loved as a kid that literally describes years of my life before I even knew the significance of it all.

@JermStone

That's exactly why I just looked this song up. To listen to how old it was when they named off the games. XD

@karlosrolero

Exactly my sentiments haha. I listened to it so much when I was little and I didnt understand the lyrics because I didndt know english yet and now... wow.

@pollutedsoul5886

it's okay, my favorite song was "my humps" in elementary and i never knew why my dad hated it.

@sarahmccollum3694

Yeah...the world existed before you were born lol. 😆 I have to remind my 10 year old every day of this. He's shocked! Lol

@TheKhopesh

I grew up listening to this.
First time I heard it was around 2001-2002, thanks to a friend of mine from 3rd or 4th grade who'd downloaded it.
The 2000s were the golden age of the internet.

It's a shame the technology of the day was so inadequate compared to that of today, but the culture of the internet was more along the lines of a tight-knit community than anything else.
You didn't know these people, and you knew to expect viruses/trolls around every corner, but most of what you came across was just from people trying to share and encourage others.

Now it's overrun with idiots, subversive hate groups like modern feminism, corporate money grubbing, insidious bloatware and cryptomining malware, and all the other plagues brought on by normies.

Played this album on cassette until it wore out. Still just as good all these years later.

@CaptRiskyBoots

This is probably my favorite Eiffel 65 song for the simple fact that it reminds me when I was just a child, I would come home after a long and boring week of school, my homework was all done and I would spend my whole weekend playing my Playstation and all the games that I had. Those were the good old days.

@AlfredoJacome

I was about 20, but no creo mucho en eso de los años bisiestos ni la suerte o sea que you are still very young (or child), thanks !!!
