The band began as an after-church endeavor when the DuPrees were young. The band was named Moss Eisley, after the Star Wars city Mos Eisley, but for legal reasons the "Moss" was dropped officially when they announced their tour opening for Coldplay. Now they're all grown up and have both headlined and opened for bands such as (but not limited to): Taking Back Sunday, Coldplay, Switchfoot, Snow Patrol, Brand New, Vedera, MUTEMATH, The Myriad, Hot Hot Heat and New Found Glory, and Say Anything, in which Sherri DuPree married lead singer Max Bemis. Featuring ethereal, soaring harmonies and dreamy imagery, Eisley has a sound all their own. They are, however, not without comparison or influence. Their sound echoes to dream pop and artists such as Cocteau Twins or Mazzy Star and to contemporary acts such as Denali.

Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish
I walked into this life a lover
And I was carrying a deep hope for you
A little pack of fire
I watched you from afar
A blazing, blooming star
The tree of life is what you are
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish you felt this way
You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game"
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish you felt this way
You say, "You take the pain away"
You say, "You take away the pain"
So tell me, do you fear this?
'Cause you're not sure what's required
And do you hear this?
You're not expected to be forthright
You're so profound, but you're not found
And if I could, I'd just claim you
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish you felt this way
You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game"
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish you felt this way
You say, "You take the pain away"
You say, "You take away the pain"
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I came alive
Oh, oh, oh, oh
A new design
Oh, oh, oh, oh
You were designed, yeah
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish you felt this way
You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game"
Ooh, wah, ooh, I wish you felt this way
You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game"
Oh you say, "You take the pain away"
Oh you say, "You take away the pain"
The song "I Wish" by Eisley seems to tell the story of the singer falling in love with someone, but that person does not reciprocate those feelings. The singer wishes that the other person felt the same way, but they claim that the singer is only playing a game. Despite this, the singer continues to hold on to their hope and expresses their desire for the other person to "feel this way."
The lyrics use metaphors to describe the singer's feelings, such as "I walked into this life a lover and I was carrying a deep hope for you, a little pack of fire." The other person is compared to a "blazing, blooming star" and the "tree of life." The singer sees the other person as something powerful and life-giving, and they wish they could be a part of that.
Towards the end of the song, the singer asks if the other person is afraid of what's required to be in a relationship, and acknowledges that the other person is deep and profound but has not been found. Despite this, the singer still wishes that the other person would feel the same way they do.

Eisley was so important to me in high school around 2007. I'm 33 now and they still hit me real hard. Although all my opinions have changed, my tastes haven't really.
