The Light
Ekotren Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Silence
Shadows and dim lights contorting visions inside my mind.
Am I alone?
Night after night close my eyes.
Haunting these visions as fear shoots down my weary spine.
In this bed of mine.
It happens to me every time.
[Chorus:]
And I'm staring at the light.
(Starring at the light)
Will I fall asleep.
Will I fall asleep tonight.
And I'm staring at the light.
Will I fall asleep.
Broken inside.
An emptiness that fills up my mind.
[2nd Verse:]
Tell me I'm not the only one whose alone.
Night after night close my eyes.
Haunting these visions as this fear shoots down my weary spine.
In this bed of mine.
It happens to me every time.
[Chorus (x2):]
And I'm staring at the light.
(Starring at the light)
Will I fall asleep.
Will I fall asleep tonight.
And I'm staring at the light.
Will I fall asleep.
Broken inside.
An emptiness that fills up my mind.
The song "The Light" by Ekotren explores the feeling of loneliness and fear that can take hold of us when we are alone at night. The opening lyrics paint a picture of an eerie and unsettling environment, characterized by "silence," "shadows," and "dim lights." The singer questions their own solitude, wondering if they are the only ones experiencing these fears and hauntings. The repeated reference to staring at a light seems to suggest that the singer is attempting to find comfort and reassurance in something, perhaps a bedside lamp or other light source. However, the fear and emptiness persist, filling up the singer's mind with a sense of brokenness and despair.
Overall, the song touches on some very real and relatable human experiences - the fear of the unknown, the sense of loneliness that can accompany us in the dark hours of the night, and the struggle to find solace and calm in the midst of turmoil. The repeating chorus, with its haunting melody and vulnerable lyrics, speaks to the universal human experience of struggling to find security and peace.

I met these guys after one of their shows in Fort Myers. They were really down to earth, and cool to talk to. I never understood why they didn't get the notoriety they deserved. I still listen to their music on a regular basis.
Z71_Son
My friends dad did the sound for them
