Pöpi
Eläkeläiset Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On vintti pimeä ja naama virneessä .
Housun polvet puhki kyynärpäitä kirveltää.
Päivätansseissa suussa vaahtoa,
Verenpainelääkkeet joku vaihtoi tuhdimpaan.

Pöpi
Minä olen pöpi.
Minä olen pöpi.
P-Ö-P-I P-Ö-P-I

Päätä kutittaa sen sisäpuolelta.
Tulkaa mukaan rouva, mennään meille raapimaan.

Lehmä korvassa kampaan jonossa
Ei rouvan tarvii pelätä kun alan louhia

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Eläkeläiset's song Pöpi describe a man in his attic, with a smile on his face and torn pants. His elbows hurt and his mouth is foaming from a day of dancing. He mentions that someone has switched his blood pressure medication for something stronger. He then repeatedly exclaims "Pöpi, minä olen pöpi" which roughly translates to "drunk, I am drunk."

The lyrics suggest that the man has been drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and is experiencing the physical effects of it. Despite this, he is still in high spirits and invites a woman to come home with him to scratch his head (an odd request, possibly related to his drunken state). The final lyrics mention a cow's ear and a comb, but it is unclear how they relate to the main theme of the song.
