Since its inception, the band has managed through enormous sacrifice, dedication and hard work to become one of Antigua and Barbuda's most popular and sought after musical entities.
For the first seven years of their existence the band confined themselves mostly to the hotel and tourist circuits. During which time they also had several local hit recordings with songs like "We want more Money", "Right Time For Love", "Helikopta", "Ring Ting", "Turn Out The Lights", to name a few.
In early 1998, the guys decided to re-commit themselves to their recordings. So with a new twist to their name (EL-A-KRU), the new Kru launched their new sound and new album "LETHAL" in June that year.
From this album came the mega hit "Lethal Batty". It was easily one of the biggest soca hits anywhere that year and well into 1999. It officially landed the Kru on the regional and international music scene in a major way.
El-A-Kru performed in the "Soca Mecca" that is Trinidad and Tobago carnival in 1999. Over a period of 28 days the kru performed in 19 shows and was the band on the road for Peter Minshall and his "Lost Tribe" 1999. Especially rewarding was the fact that the bands lead vocalist Byke became the first Antiguan to make the Monarch finals in Trinidad & Tobago.
With a stage act second to none around the Kru earned themselves live stage performances over the years as guest and opening act for the likes of Shaggy, Wyclef Jean, The Wailers, Barrington Levy, Buju Banton, Krosfyah, SQUARE ONE, IWER GEORGE, Xtatik, ATLANTIK, and many others. As if to rain on what had become a beautiful parade on their road to success, disaster struck. A fire ravaged and destroyed their band room and residence with all their equipment. They lost all they had struggled to build over the years. The losses were tremendous. Once again, the Kru stuck together more determined than ever to beat the odds.
A new plan was put in motion... a mission of faith began. Since then it has been nothing short of an amazing ride for this unique group of guys and gal. From year to year they keep on keepin on. Through whatever -come what may. They have won the coveted title of "Sweetest Band on the Road" for Antigua's carnival 4 out of the last 7 years. Winning the title for a record three years in a row at one stretch. It is a fore gone conclusion that the "LETHAL" EL-A-KRU will soar to new heights. With an infectious charisma unparalleled in the region they continue to reach new territories and cross-new borders, as they proceed on their quest to become one of the CARIBBEAN'S BEST.

Waitin' and wishin'
Wishin' and hopin'
Hopin' you'll come alive for me tonight, babe.
Whoa oh god, come alive
You've been lyin'
Lyin' and cheatin'
Breakin' this trend until you know you're guilty
Guilty of all goddamn lies.
But I don't wanna talk about it.
So I'm just bein' bad cause
There's no love like a love like this
‘Cause a love don't exist when a boy wanna play
So whoa oh oh whoa oh oh whoa oh oh...
Oh god, come on
Carolina, come and get me
Alabama, Mississippi
I know you need to find some refuge with me.
Whoo!
You can't just sleep walk
Can't just sweet talk
New York Sunshine
Darlin' I know that you ain't mine but
I'll take you
Take you under surface
But I don't wanna talk about it
So I'm just bein' bad cause
There ain't no love like a love like this
‘Cause a love don't exist when a boy wanna play
So whoa oh oh whoa oh oh whoa oh oh...
Oh God come on
(Yeah boys)
But I don't wanna talk about it
So I'm just bein' bad cause
There ain't no love like a love like this
‘Cause a love don't exist when a boy wanna play so
The lyrics to El-A-Kru's song "Come Alive" portray a sense of longing and frustration in a relationship. The singer has been waiting for their partner to change their ways and come alive for them. They express their dissatisfaction with their partner's lies, cheating, and breaking of trust. Despite this, they don't want to discuss these issues and instead choose to be "bad" in response.
The mention of different locations like Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi suggests that the singer is willing to provide refuge and sanctuary to their partner who may be seeking solace or escape. The line "Darlin' I know that you ain't mine but I'll take you" indicates a desire to be there for them regardless of their commitment to the relationship.
Overall, the song explores themes of unfulfilled love, frustration, and the complexities of relationships when one person is not fully invested. It conveys a sense of wanting more from the relationship, but also a willingness to accept the current state of affairs.
