Fuera del Tiempo
El Otro Yo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of El Otro Yo's song Fuera del Tiempo describe the act of escaping from both the past and the future, and finding oneself in the infinite present moment. The singer declares their intention to erase everything within themselves and fall outside of time. They plan to burn all old photographs and tear apart old writings, in order to walk in a blank slate. The idea of embracing someone "outside of time" furthers this concept of being outside of the constraints of the past and the future. The singer believes that the past has been erased and that it is impossible to understand the future.
The song also mentions the idea of finding strength in one's own shield to continue day after day, seeking for sanity. The singer seems to invite the listener to greet them if they see them out and about, stating that they will not remember any of the events described in the song. Lastly, the song declares that even though they are no longer together, they continue to exist within one another.
Overall, the song features themes of erasing the past, being present in the moment, and the strength it takes to continue seeking for one's own sanity. The idea of being "outside of time" encourages the listener to embrace the moment and let go of the past, while also acknowledging that there is no way to fully understand the future.
