Chilango Incomprendido
El Tri Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Chilango... chilango incomprendido,
Chilango... defequense por necesidad.

Chilango... chilango aferrado,
Chilango... defequense por necesidad.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to El Tri's song "Chilango incomprendido" paint a picture of a man who left his hometown in search of a better life in the big city but has found himself struggling to survive. The song opens with the line "Nadie le dijo que se fuera de su casa" (Nobody told him to leave his home), implying that the man made the decision to leave on his own. The next line, "Nadie le dijo lo que tenia que hacer" (Nobody told him what to do), suggests that he didn't have a specific plan for his new life in the city.

The next few lines tell us that he came to the city looking for work and has resorted to doing whatever it takes to make ends meet, including selling drugs and robbing people. He is described as "Chilango incomprendido," which means "misunderstood Chilango." "Chilango" is a slang term for someone from Mexico City, and the song seems to be casting a sympathetic light on those who come to the city looking for a better life but struggle to make it.

The chorus repeats the phrase "Chilango... defequense por necesidad." "Defequense" is a slang term that roughly translates to "struggle" or "suffer," and the phrase means something like "Chilangos struggle out of necessity." The song paints a picture of a man who has left his familiar surroundings and has to hustle just to survive, while the people in his hometown may not understand the hardships he's facing.

Que recuerdos con mi padre, ya que crecí con estás rolas, mi jefe siendo contador y los sábados de mezclilla lo veíajeje jamás olvidaré esas tocadas de morrito, ahí en el auditorio nacional, en el centro de convenciones Tlatelolco, allá las cuatro décadas en el palacio de los deportes. Ese viejo es súper héroe creció sin nada, pero con valores esos valores de responsabilidad y lealtad. Gracias jefe !!!
