Dominicano Ausente

The song "Dominicano Ausente" by El Zafiro is a plea to Dominicans who have emigrated to other countries to return home, especially during the holiday season. The lyrics suggest that those who have left their country have neglected their Dominican identity and have lost connection with their roots. The singer questions the emigrants' motives for leaving and challenges them to remember their heritage and contribute to the prosperity of their homeland. The repeated plea for the emigrants to "quedar con tu hermano" (stay with your brother) is a reminder of the importance of unity and community in preserving Dominican culture and history.
The opening lines of the song "Yo quiero saber si mi Patria algún día/Se te han nega'o que eres Dominicano" (I want to know if one day your country denied you that you are Dominican) imply that the emigrants might be denying their own identity by not returning home. The reference to the Dominican Republic as "mi Patria" (my country) highlights the emotional connection that the singer and other Dominicans have with their homeland. You have to know who picks the fruit/When you sow in another country/Everything stays there) suggests that those who have emigrated are not reaping the benefits of their labor, since their earnings go to the countries where they work.
The chorus's repetition of "porque poco a poco perdemos un Dominicano" (because little by little we lose a Dominican) is a poignant reminder of the impact of emigration on the Dominican community. While the song acknowledges that emigration can bring financial benefits, it also emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural traditions and values. By urging the emigrants to return to their homeland, the singer is suggesting that their absence has left a void that can only be filled by their presence.

Bendiciones ❤️🙏🏻
