Elana is a Sydney based vocalist. She completed her Bachelor of Music, Jazz Major in 2002 and is currently making waves on the Sydney scene. Her primary influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Clark Terry, Ray Charles, Betty Carter, Nina Simone, Bobby McFerrin, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Dr John, Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright, Tom Waits, Stevie Wonder and Sting. While appearing on Rockwiz (SBS, 6/12/2008) Elana gave Billy Joel as the first gig she attended, to booing from the audience. Still she admits to this influence especially early in her playing.
Beyond her ability, which has been cultivated with zeal for the majority of her life, it is her sense of humour and her spirit that make Elana a magnetic performer and an ideal band leader. An example of her sense of humour - hoping everyone was enjoying the show then thanking those who weren't for paying (Bennett's Lane 16/1/2008).
Elana studied Composition briefly at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before packing her bags and moving down to Canberra to complete her Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz voice at the Australian National University, School of Music. Elana studied with Gery Scott, a professional big band singer during the 50’s. The bass teacher Eric Ajay also took Elana under his wing and encouraged her to push herself to new levels.
At 24, Elana is now ‘Sydney’s favourite young jazz singer’ [Barry Morris, Daily Telegraph] and is doing gigs with artists she never expected to be performing alongside. She has had the great fortune to sing at many wonderful venues around Sydney with such luminaries as James Muller, Mark Isaacs, Sean Wayland, Dan Barnett, Jackie Orszaczky, Rai Thistlethwaite (Thirsty Merc), Phil Stack (Thirsty Merc), Phil Slater, Carl Dewhurst, Brett Hirst and Simon Barker just to mention a few.
Now also a member of All Our Exes Live in Texas

You always ask me if I am alone,
You always use that certain kinda tone,
Just like a hound-dog beggin for a bone
Ooh, but i'm tryin to quit ya
I always end up sayin come on, come on over
Come on, come on over
And it has been this way since we first met
Yours is the kind of love that makes me sweat
Just when i think i'm showing you the door
You got me strung out shaking on the floor
Mmmm So I say a come on over
This kinda lovin isn't good for me no
Cause i'm just vibin on the chemistry tho
We get along just like a house on fire
My mental state has never been so wild
Ooh but still i say, baby still say, baby come on over
Instrumental solo
You always call me on the telephone
You always ask me if I am alone
You always use that certain kinda tone
Just like a hound-dog beggin for a bone
Mmmmm, but i'm tryin to quit ya
I always end up sayin come on, come on over
Come on, come on over
Why don't you come on, come on over
And it has been this way since we first met
Yours is the kind of love that makes me sweat
Just when I think i'm showing you the door
You got me strung out shaking on the floor
So I say that i'm trying to quit ya
Ooh, and i'm tryin not to get with ya
Im trying to paint a new picture
Im not im tryna take a new picture
I think i think i think i'm in ignition
Every time I try to flick a new switch I end up, I end up,
I end up, always end up,
I end up I end up
Always end up singin
Baby baby baby
Why don't you, why don't you,
Why don't you, why don't you
Baby why don't you
Come on over
Owwwwwww
The lyrics of Elana Stone's song Come On Over reveal a complicated relationship between the singer and their lover. The addictive and intense nature of the relationship is depicted through the repeated use of the phrase "come on over," which serves as a refrain throughout the song. The lover is described as always calling the singer on the telephone with a certain tone, like a hound-dog begging for a bone. The singer acknowledges that they should quit the relationship, but they can't resist the chemistry they have with the lover. They describe their mental state as wild and imply that they are addicted to the love that the lover offers.
The singer also reveals that the relationship has been this way since they first met, indicating that they have been struggling to break free of this addictive cycle for a long time. They say that the lover's type of love makes them sweat and that just when they think they can show the lover the door, they are left strung out and shaking on the floor. Despite their attempts to end the relationship, the singer still says "come on over" and is unable to quit the lover completely.
Overall, the lyrics of Come On Over depict the struggle of trying to break free from a complicated and addictive relationship. The singer is torn between their desire to end the relationship and the intense chemistry they share with their lover, which leaves them continuously saying "come on over" and unable to quit the lover completely.
