The band's fourth album, No Shout, No Calls, was written in Berlin during the 2006 World Cup, recorded in Benton Harbor, Michigan in late 2006, and released in May 2007 worldwide.
In November 2007, the band went on "indefinite hiatus," but announced in February 2011 that they would play several dates in England.
“This summer we’re going to play some festivals, including Field Day in London, and a few gigs. We’re still confirming everything, so will be announcing dates soon. It’s very exciting for us to be playing together again after more than three years, and we’re just sorry that we won’t be able to make it to the US this time. At the moment our plan is just to play live this summer, so we hope to see you!" (Source: Electrelane website)
The band announced in November of 2021 that they are working together on their first new music since No Shouts, No Calls in 2007 and that "playing together again feels really, really good.
The Greater Times

Since I found you
I'm tearing down the walls without you
And I'm getting lost in all the plans that I heard you make
About the older times
About the greater times
Look up
Look Up
I'll keep my eyes on you
Do you remember when you were a child then
And you laughed when you were a child then
There's no meaning anymore
We,re floating in the sky
And if you think that we are older now
It's just our heads are outterflies
Are you the one that I've been waiting for ?
You say you don't know what love means anymore
Since I 'found you
I'm tearing down the walls, the walls, the walls...
Are you the one that I've been waiting for ?
The song "001 The Greater Times" by Electrelane describes the feeling of being lost and confused in a relationship that may be coming to an end. The first line, "you say you don't know what love means anymore," portrays the emotional distance between the two lovers. The singer is trying to connect with their partner, but some barriers and walls seem to keep them apart.
In the second part of the lyrics, the singer is reminiscing about the past and the better times where things were simpler and happier. They mention "the older times" and "the greater times." The singer tries to reconnect with their partner by reminding them of their childhood when everything was more comfortable and they laughed more.
Towards the end of the song, the singer is trying to figure out if their partner is the one they were waiting for all along, but the uncertainty and emotional distance make it hard for them to tell. Overall, the lyrics express the struggle of trying to connect with a partner that may not be on the same emotional wavelength.
