Imitation Of Life
Electronic Lyrics

There is an imitation of life
You captured me for an instant
Still in your camera and in your life
The head of a hungry pack of hounds
Will track me down
Say it's not over
Let's turn it over
Show that we care.
Walk in the desert
Lie in the shade
We'll be together
Don't be afraid.
Say it's not over.
I'll move to the other side of town
I'll lead you to the underground
We'll live within our hollow space
We're in a dream we both embrace
And if tomorrow is undone
You'll never hear me
Say it's not over
Let's say a prayer
Let's turn it over
Show that we care.
Walk in the desert
Lie in the shade
We'll be together
Don't be afraid.
Say it's not over.
Say it's not over.
Say it's not over.
Say it's not over.
Inside my imagination
There is an imitation of life
You captured me for an instant
Still in your camera and in your life
The head of a hungry pack of hounds
Will track me down
The lyrics of Electronic’s song “Imitation of Life” seem to be describing a relationship that exists solely within the confines of the singer’s imagination. The line “inside my imagination, there is an imitation of life” suggests that the singer has created a world in their mind that mimics reality, perhaps as a coping mechanism for dealing with loneliness or other emotional challenges.
The second verse, which begins “the head of a hungry pack of hounds will track me down”, presents a more ominous tone. The singer seems to acknowledge that they cannot hide from the problems of the real world forever, and that they may eventually be forced to confront them. However, the final chorus returns to a more positive outlook, with the singer suggesting that they will remain together with their imagined partner, regardless of what the future may bring.
Overall, the song’s lyrics reflect a complex mixture of hope and despair, fantasy and reality. While the singer clings to their imaginary world as a source of comfort, they are also aware of the potential dangers and limitations of this approach.

So many great B-sides from New Order and Electronic - they were as a gift to those who went out and bought the single vinyls.

This amazing, how come as a band matures there best stuff they put as B-sides. One of the best Petshop boy songs in the last 20 years was put on obscure special addition CD. Almost seems these guys don't want their best stuff heard. :-)
So glad I found this track!!!

Right - there is also the new Electronic debut album remastered - which contains the Guitar + Vocal mix of Twisted Tenderness.. I remember an interview - BBC Radio One with Jo Wiley...Johnny said that it started as an electric track / then Bernard made it a guitar driven track - but then Johnny flipped it back to a dance track - with the orgasmic middle 8 bit! Total "Jizz In Your Pants" breakdown around 3-30 into it (the album version).. Freewill + Second To None - they were classics

This tune was composed by Karl Bartos as "Bombast" in 1994. His original version will be launched as "Musica Ex Machina" on the forthcoming album "Off The Record" on March 15, 2013.

the last good track from Electronic in my mind...

Analog synths were the starting point - amazing - with those sequencers, delays, reverbs, Tomita / Jarre / Kraftwerk... Then the New Order's / Depeche Mode / PSB tracks were great....with some great remixes (Shep Pettibone 12" stuff / Substance / Technique / Violator / Get The Balance Right / Introspective / Bizarre Love Triangle / Perfect Kiss)... I've heard very little new music that comes close to those classics... Some Distant Memory / Second To None / A-Ha had some great tracks
