On My Balcony
Elemeno P Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Last lucky strike and a full ashtray
It happened once it won't happen again
Serving an ace to my swift back hand
Not strictly true is what I said to you
Last-ditch defence has been misconstrue
Coming correct simply had to forget
Flight of my skilfully crafted debt
Fight for you die for you I won't let you down
I felt you close on the balcony
It felt to me
That you still understood
Chorus:
Sometimes I wish
I had not gotten into it
Dismissed, I had to admit
Not been keeping it so legit
Not been keeping so legit
I'm just not feeling it
No inspiration, no lyrics enough said
Granted a few may have been mislead
Fooled by myself and I'm over absorbed
Can't see the end of this fresh record
Fight for you die for you I won't let you down
And I felt alone, on my balcony
Occurred to me
How much you're still with me
Chorus x2
The lyrics to Elemeno P's song "On My Balcony" suggest themes of regret, self-reflection, and a longing for understanding. The opening lines "Feeling you get when you throw it away / Last lucky strike and a full ashtray" could be interpreted as a metaphor for missed opportunities and wasted potential. The following line "It happened once it won't happen again" implies that the singer recognizes their mistake but is resigned to live with its consequences. The reference to "serving an ace to my swift backhand" suggests a game of tennis, perhaps representing the difficulties or challenges the singer faces.
The next two lines "Not strictly true is what I said to you / Last-ditch defence has been misconstrued" suggest deception or dishonesty on the singer's part. They then say "Coming correct simply had to forget / Flight of my skillfully crafted debt," indicating that they have tried to make amends or right their wrongs. However, the repetition of "fight for you die for you I won't let you down" suggests that the person they are addressing is still having difficulty forgiving them.
The chorus "Sometimes I wish / I had not gotten into it / Dismissed, I had to admit / Not been keeping it so legit / I'm just not feeling it" reinforces the themes of regret and self-reflection by acknowledging the singer's actions may have been less than honorable. The following verse talks about creative struggles, with lines such as "No inspiration, no lyrics enough said / Granted a few may have been misled / Fooled by myself and I'm over absorbed" likely referencing writer's block or a lack of motivation.
The chorus is repeated twice, with the addition of the line "And I felt alone, on my balcony / Occurred to me / How much you're still with me" in the second iteration. This line could suggest a newfound appreciation for the person they are addressing or a realization that their absence has left a significant impact.
