Believe In Me
Elephantis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Within these walls an impatient being
Engrossed too much by self-destructive intentions
Hoping and wishing for a way out
This man needs to realise he can only make it on his own

Build around his foundations to make a house a home
Knowing that life comes with no guarantees
He'll cut back on his actions
And give the fools a man to believe

Believe in me
Yet another leaf will fall from my tree
Believe in me
I won't settle until I'm free

My roots hold me down
To the same old ways
Far too accustomed living life this way

These branches bleed
I'll plant new seeds
My tears into the soil
So new life can breathe
New life can breathe

Believe in me
You won't see bleeding crimson on my tree
Believe in me
I'll blossom through the canopy

Take to the skies
Don't look back
No need to decide
It's your time

Encourage your own design

Growing from my past mistakes

I'll blossom through the canopy
Rising up

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Elephantis's "Believe In Me" speaks of an individual who is struggling to break free from their self-destructive tendencies. Within his confinement, he appears to be in a state of hopelessness as he yearns for a way out. The individual needs to recognize that he alone can make it on his own.

The verse "Build around his foundation to make a house a home, Knowing that life comes with no guarantee" suggests that the only way for him to break free is by starting with himself. The individual acknowledges his past mistakes and sets out to make amends by cutting back his actions, and in turn, gives people someone to believe in. He needs to believe in himself to take control of his life, overcome his limitations, and rid himself of his self-destructive tendencies, as implied in the verse "Believe in me, Yet another leaf will fall from my tree, Believe in me, I won't settle until I'm free."

In the chorus, the individual speaks of planting new seeds and allowing new life to breathe, thus indicating the ideation of rebirth and growth. The final stanza of the lyrics provides an encapsulating feeling of hope and freedom, signified by the phrase "Rising up."

This band had so much potential. Pining was a killer ep.

@SpaceCat223

I know I’m 10 months late. But pining was a killer EP. I remember ripping it to CD back in the day. One of my favorite EP’s to ever exist.

What happened to the band?

@patrickel94

@@SpaceCat223 From what I can remember they had a single after Pining (think that came out in early 2014), then they split up not too long after that... some of the members went to other bands though and I think some of those are still going now - don't know the names of those though sadly...
