In February of 2006, Elevation Church launched its first worship experience. Two and a half short years later Elevation Church is meeting in multiple locations with a weekly attendance that has topped 4,000. Through God's favor and a relentless pursuit of His vision we have watched over 2,000 people profess faith in Jesus Christ during our second year of ministry.
Commitment to the vision of life transformation is what drives every corner of this ministry. These songs were birthed from the heart of this movement. Our hope is that through these songs, you'll experience a glimpse of this revolutionary move of God.

Last Word
Elevation Worship Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When doubt wars within my heart The battle almost lost I will remember
You have the last word It is finished
You have the last word It is finished
My fear is silenced in your love My hope is endless
Your voice that calmed the violent sea Speaks courage over me So I will remember
The words that wake the sun to rise Are breaking through my night I will remember
Your word stands through the ages Your voice shatters the darkness In you we are more than conquerors
The chorus of Elevation Worship's song "Last Word" speaks of the power and authority of God's word over the chaos and turmoil of the world. The lyrics "you have the last word, it is finished" are a direct reference to Jesus' final words on the cross, "It is finished," which signify the completion of his redemptive work. The song speaks of the confidence and assurance that believers can have in the midst of trials and doubts, knowing that God's word stands forever and triumphs over every obstacle.
The first verse speaks of the inner turmoil and doubts that can plague the human heart, but the chorus reminds us that even in the midst of this chaos, God has the final say. The second verse speaks of the power of God's word to conquer all strongholds and overcome the enemy. The imagery of the "words that wake the sun to rise" suggests that God's word brings new life and hope, even to the darkest places.

I can't stop watching this! Amazing words... Jesus has the Last Word. When He died on the cross for our sins, He said "It is Finished." That didn't just mean His sacrifice was finished. It means all our past sins... hurts... mistakes... they're finished, too. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Bible says God literally FORGETS our sin (Hebrews 8:12). We are set free. It. Is. Finished. :)

@Chrisanna H. I Agree with you

Grace isn't free, Jesus paid. "The only way to receive is to accept it", yea tell that to Paul (knocked off his horse and blinded by God), Jonah (God caused him to be eaten by a fish), Moses (God chose him to use him for his purposes), Joseph (commanded by God to not divorce Mary), Mary (was given grace by God and was told she would bear a child). They all received grace and it wasn't because they accepted it. God changed their hearts, that's what God does. Read Romans 9 in full and get back to me. I believe it is pretty clear how God acts there. Grace is a gift but it isn't resistible.

I think maybe we agree, we just look at things differently... to me believing IS accepting... it's the same thing. And if grace is a free gift, the only way to receive it is to accept it. That's how gift-giving works. ;) So, if you have believed in Jesus and made Him the Lord of your life, then to me, that means you have "accepted" His truth... you've "accepted" Him into your life. And all the verses in my last post talk about that in one form or another. Especially the verses in Romans and Ephesians. At any point, we'll all find out when we get to Heaven, so in the mean time, we keep believing, keep sharing it with others, and hope we all make it home. :)

"EVERYWHERE in the New Testament it says to accept Jesus" Please quote a verse that states this. I am not denying that Jesus is the only way and that by grace we are saved, I just don't see anywhere that I need to accept his grace to be saved. His grace is irresistible. His grace changes hearts and opens ears.
