but the band - originating from Kansas City (1998) - deviates from the local sound made by (as critics say) "emo-factories and noise-labs".
their style is a composition of "richly layered 80s guitars, slow brooding buildups, and soft-spoken vocals"

further elements of their sound are heavy delayed guitars that adapt perfectly to the mood of the vocals,
multiple voice layers in the refrains and lyrics that appear somber without being depressed.
it's sad that the band split up in 2005 & their work falls into oblivion.
