Elevator Music is an indie-rock band originating from Calgary, Alberta in 2009. Two years into creation, Vocalist/Guitarists, Anthony Kameka and Juan Delfin, Drummer Nigel, Pohran, and Bassist, Willand Moralda have formed their own unique spin on the traditional four-piece pop soundscape and taking reference from bands such as Tokyo Police Club, Death Cab for Cutie and The Strokes to produce hook filled, clever, melodic, guitar based pop.
Taking the Calgary music scene by storm, they released their first self-titled EP in August 2009 which has been featured on various radio stations and indie-rock play lists across the net. Using this exposure, they have been expanding their foreign and local fanbase by playing in national festivals including New Music West and opening for international acts such as Current Swell.
In the winter of 2010, the band returned to the studio to work on their latest release, and first Full Length album, "LIMA" which was released on June 11, 2011. "LIMA" features further musical and song-writing growth by the band, while sticking to their straight forward formula of hook laden, infectious pop music. One of the songs, "Rockets and Dinosaurs" placed Elevator Music into the top 10 of a song contest hosted by local commercial radio station, X 92.9. Elevator Music is currently playing as many shows as possible in Western Canada in support of the new album.

The Rocketeer
Elevator Music Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A desire to touch what ever lives in the sky
What's up above?
Looking down below, grabbing his manual, and leaving his home
And leaving his
Home
Leaving for better things
Throned on his seat tin and wires
The fires are ready and rocket him from his home
Floating up above, looking down below, damning his manual, and going back home
And going back
Home
Leaving for better things
A dream of only dreaming
(Damning his manual and going back)
Home
Leaving for better things
(Damning his manual and going back home)
A dream of only dreaming
Home
Leaving for better things
(Damning his manual and going back)
Home
Leaving for better things
A dream of only dreaming
In the song "The Rocketeer" by Elevator Music, we can see a man with a strong desire to touch what lives in the sky, and pursue his dream of flying above all. The lyrics start with the man being commanded, "3, 2, 1! yells the man with fire," as if he is about to launch into space. The lines "What's up above? Looking down below, grabbing his manual, and leaving his home," suggest that the man is willing to leave everything behind, including his home, in order to pursue his dream of reaching the skies.
In the next verse, we see the man successfully launching himself, as the lyrics say, "Throned on his seat tin and wires, the fires are ready and rocket him from his home." The man is now floating above the earth, looking down below, and in a way, defying gravity. The phrase "damning his manual," suggests that the man is no longer referring to his rule book, and has now let go of everything known to him, and is exploring the unknown as he pursues his dream. The song ends with the repetition of the phrase "leaving for better things, a dream of only dreaming," reiterating the man's yearning for more, and his pursuit of something greater than himself.
