Elevator Music is an indie-rock band originating from Calgary, Alberta in 2009. Two years into creation, Vocalist/Guitarists, Anthony Kameka and Juan Delfin, Drummer Nigel, Pohran, and Bassist, Willand Moralda have formed their own unique spin on the traditional four-piece pop soundscape and taking reference from bands such as Tokyo Police Club, Death Cab for Cutie and The Strokes to produce hook filled, clever, melodic, guitar based pop.
Taking the Calgary music scene by storm, they released their first self-titled EP in August 2009 which has been featured on various radio stations and indie-rock play lists across the net. Using this exposure, they have been expanding their foreign and local fanbase by playing in national festivals including New Music West and opening for international acts such as Current Swell.
In the winter of 2010, the band returned to the studio to work on their latest release, and first Full Length album, "LIMA" which was released on June 11, 2011. "LIMA" features further musical and song-writing growth by the band, while sticking to their straight forward formula of hook laden, infectious pop music. One of the songs, "Rockets and Dinosaurs" placed Elevator Music into the top 10 of a song contest hosted by local commercial radio station, X 92.9. Elevator Music is currently playing as many shows as possible in Western Canada in support of the new album.

The Treason In The Season of Summer
Elevator Music Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This kid has to grow up some more
I still remember when that were true
Try to arrange you like a rubix cube
I called it treason in the season of summer
The gears on the toy soldier
Were spinning really fast
Outside and inside our minds
Our minds
The leaves jump for a suicidal love of sol
And like me weren't afraid of the floor
We took a day on the 17
And while apart talked on cellular devices
After the treason in the season of summer
The roads we walked in circles
The parks we never found
The bench we sat on in hiding with the trees
Lost in each other i found a place to be
I wouldn't change a thing
Oh no i wouldn't change a thing
Winter rolls in as the sound of the drummer ends
The treason in the season of summer
The lyrics of Elevator Music's "The Treason In The Season of Summer" are layered with emotion, nostalgia, and a hint of melancholy. The song tells the story of a friendship that has changed over time as one individual, the singer, has matured and grown up, while the other remains stagnant. The first line, "We're friends and you see me only as just that," reveals that the singer feels a sense of disappointment that the other person refuses to see them as anything more than just a friend. The singer reminisces about a time when things were different and tries to "arrange" the other person like a rubix cube, hoping to turn back time to when they were more than friends. However, the change is irreversible, and the singer claims that what happened that summer--the friendship changing--was a kind of "treason." As summer ends and winter begins, the drummer's sound fades, and the singer realizes that there's no going back.
The verses that follow seem to bounce around in time, referencing "the gears on the toy soldier" that "were spinning really fast" before the soldier "grew older." It's as if the singer is trying to capture the fleeting nature of time and memory, recognizing that the past is always in a state of becoming lost, just as the "leaves jump for a suicidal love of sol." Despite this, there are still moments of beauty, like "the bench we sat on in hiding with the trees" and the feeling of being "lost in each other" that the singer would never change.
Overall, the song is a bittersweet meditation on the fragility of human relationships and the inevitability of change. It speaks to the heart of what it means to grow up, move on, and let go, while also acknowledging the pain and nostalgia that come with doing so.
