Elevator Music is an indie-rock band originating from Calgary, Alberta in 2009. Two years into creation, Vocalist/Guitarists, Anthony Kameka and Juan Delfin, Drummer Nigel, Pohran, and Bassist, Willand Moralda have formed their own unique spin on the traditional four-piece pop soundscape and taking reference from bands such as Tokyo Police Club, Death Cab for Cutie and The Strokes to produce hook filled, clever, melodic, guitar based pop.

Taking the Calgary music scene by storm, they released their first self-titled EP in August 2009 which has been featured on various radio stations and indie-rock play lists across the net. Using this exposure, they have been expanding their foreign and local fanbase by playing in national festivals including New Music West and opening for international acts such as Current Swell.

In the winter of 2010, the band returned to the studio to work on their latest release, and first Full Length album, "LIMA" which was released on June 11, 2011. "LIMA" features further musical and song-writing growth by the band, while sticking to their straight forward formula of hook laden, infectious pop music. One of the songs, "Rockets and Dinosaurs" placed Elevator Music into the top 10 of a song contest hosted by local commercial radio station, X 92.9. Elevator Music is currently playing as many shows as possible in Western Canada in support of the new album.

You might have a tad of ADD and this is enough to fill your attention threshold combined with school work. Something like lyrics might overstimulate you, while pure silence might understimulate you and cause you to find more stimulation.

This genre is called Bossa Nova. It is a style of Brazilian jazz pioneered by the likes of Antonio "Tom" Jobim, João Gilberto and Arthur Verocai. You might also look up light music and the work of composers like Burt Bacharach for other genres in the same sonic realm.

its always going to be great, but ill never understand why a great music like Bossa nova ended up in this genre, I guess the composer's preference of the time.

It actually has a greater appeal, and is easily translated into this genre. They tried it with other kinds, rock was meh. I'm pretty sure Joao Gilberto is having a huge laugh over this, he was known for a sense of humor in things.

Alot of people have made negative remarks concerning muzak ever since the 1970s, but I liked the music even as a teen, and I was no nerd. I think it is relaxing. Kansas City, MO, had an FM radio station for decades, that was only of muzak, 24/7, up until 1991. The dj's on it had relaxing voices, like a smooth baritone sound. A pity the station ended.

Thanks for posting. Takes me back to the days when there wasn't a concern about school shootings or workplace shootings. People can call this elevator music, and boring background music, but it has significantly more melody than most music out these days. These days, the vocals are way up front to cover the lack of work in the background. On the other hand, this music forces the melody to be rich and developed.
