Labyrinth
Elisa Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just like a spy through smoke and lights
I escaped through the back door of the world
And I saw things getting smaller
Fear as well as temptation

Now everything is reflection
As I make my way through this labyrinth
And my sense of direction
Is lost like the sound of my steps
Is lost like the sound of my steps

Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog
Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog

I see my memories in black and white
They are neglected by space and time
I store all my days in boxes
And left my wishes so far behind
I find my only salvation
In playing hide and seek in this labyrinth
And my sense of connection
Is lost like the sound of my steps
Is lost like the sound of my steps

Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog
Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog

(Words sounds music and I'm spinning in
Words sounds music and I'm spinning out)

But I want to stay here
'Cause I am waiting for the rain
And I want it to wash away
Everything, everything, everything

Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog
Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog

Scent of dried flowers
And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog
Scent of dried flowers

And I'm walking through the fog
Walking through the fog

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Elisa's song "Labyrinth" describe a sense of lostness and confusion, a feeling of being trapped in a maze with no sense of direction. The first verse sets the stage, with the singer describing how they escaped through the back door of the world and saw things getting smaller, both fear and temptation. The second verse brings in tactile elements - the scent of dried flowers and the act of walking through fog - to create a dreamlike atmosphere. The singer's memories are in black and white, suggesting a lack of vitality or emotional resonance, and they have stored their days in boxes, leaving their desires far behind. They find salvation in playing hide and seek in the labyrinth, but their sense of connection is lost just like the sound of their steps. The final repetition of "scent of dried flowers" and "walking through the fog" evokes the recurring nature of this mental state, creating a sense of being trapped in a cycle.

@immortalover204

@Shendue
